• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Complete Thumbnail Pack for Version 1.30

I don't see the thumbnails at the download center either. Could you possibly re-upload it to AvSim? They say they have contacted you since they lost so much due to the hack.

Just to show my ignorance ...

How does one go about making thumbnails? I have some other scenery libraries that I'd like thumbnails for but I'm not sure how to go about doing this.

Sorry if this has been covered before, I'm too lazy to search. :o

In ADE there is a screen capture function that allows you to make thumbnails. However this is probably a slow thing for large libraries.

Hi,

Instant Scenery has a function that allows you to make thumbnail images a bit quicker.

Hope this helps,

big thumbnail pack

Hi Jon,

Somehow objects from thumbnail pack won't show up on FSX, they did appeared on the Afcad when I highlighted each object . I did save and recompile the airport.
Let say I added SanFran.bgl, all the thumbnails showed up, I chose and added
presidio3, , save and recompile, exit. Start FS, go to airport, only objects from buildings.bgl, generic.bgl,autogen.bgl showed up but not from SanFran.
Am I missing one step?

First make sure that you have the image complexity in FS is set to extremely dense. If that does not solve it then maybe you are trying to use the objects outside their geo-locked area?

yes! the step you are missing is now to add the textures for the building
if you have put the building in any airport other than the airport they came from,
as Jon said they are probably the Geo locked buildings.........
so you could try this:
you need to search the "Sanfran" texture folder for the "presidio3" textures
then copy and paste them into the "global" texture folder

Hi Jon and Ray,

I did copy the textures to Global texture folder, but same result.
Is there a way to find what texture are outside their geo-locked area?

Jimmy

It is the object that is Geo locked, not the textures.

I don't know of a way, except using a payware program like Instant Scenery.

It is possible to move them but I think it involves decompiling the library and then extracting the relevant mdl file into a new library or use it directly in something like ADE.

For the sake of clarity no ScruffyDuck utilities extract mdl files. We took the view that this is where the copyright lies for designers. However other tools such as BglAnalyzeX will extract them.
