• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Custom Objects disappear on recompile

When developers use the above cited methods which are "non-standard" (and I use that term since AFAIK, ACES saw fit to NOT use those methods to make the many thousands of default airports shipped with MSFS),
Nonsense. There are many default airports which use these methods.

I am sorry but I have lost the plot here. As far as I can see the original issue has been addressed and everything after that is not related.

Indeed, Jon, there is no need for engaging in further discussion on a sub-topic of the pros and cons of "hybrid" (aka "non-standard") airport BGLs.

I merely was pointing out that use of such "hybrid" BGLs (as cited above) in airport design may result in extra work for programmers who want their airport utilities to accommodate such airports without crashes or confusion and extra work ...for end users.

And thanks to George for the heads-up; I'll be more careful when I work on FS default airports in the future by using a stand-alone de-compiler to inspect the airport source XML to see if I will be 'missing' anything when ADE and/or AFX imports, de-compiles, copies, and IIUC, retains only selected portions of what a original source "airport" BGL might actually contain. :)

===UPDATE===

I edited my post above in this thread:

PS:

Instant Scenery has now added a mechanism to identify BGLs which cause 'crashes' in the "Show Objects From All BGLs" feature which labels all placed scenery library objects within a specified radius of the user aircraft ...on screen at run time in FS:

http://www.simforums.com/forums/instant-scenery-303-error-loading-bgls_topic52017.html

Hopefully this will help finding problematic scenery library objects in "hybrid" airport BGLs (unless of course by being inside a "hybrid" BGL they can't be detected by IS3). :scratchch

I tried method #1 with the KMSP that Martin Connor released on Avsim. He had mdl objects enbeded in the afcad. So I couldn't assign parking spots to airlines nor connect the parking spots to the taxiways. So I did method 1. It work in that I had the scenery. However, when I move to the airport, it's deserted no ai aircraft. As planes start arriving, it starts to fill up. Is this because the original afcad also has the parking spots and other stuff? The planes that land do go to the proper gate that I have to the airlines. And my afcad is higher on the priority list than the original. Any ideas?
