• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Downloader Failure

Charlie,

The tool is part of the ADE package since some releases back. If it is missing from your program group then I assume you have skipped the last few patches.

We only had this kind of error once. It looks that the registry values for ADE are either missing or have been corrupted.

Please de-install ADE with either the de-installation icon in the start program folder or via the control panel with add or remove programs.

Then re-install the last full release 1.20 plus the latest 1.35 patch. This will solve your issue.

Sorted

Martin / Jon,

I uninstalled from the 'exe' in the folder; it was not in the Programs and features bit, then deleted the remaining items. A registry check showed no abnormalities.
I then reloaded 1.20, applied the 1.30 update, then allowed the automatic 1.35 update. Now where are those thumbnails:p

All working now :D

EGNR lookout...

Thanks all

Hi Charlie

Good to know it is working OK now

Testing has shown (we hope!) that the problem with ADE not finding the downloader has been fixed.

Can't find the ADEdownloader.exe

Jon/all,
I think that I am having the same problem as is discussed here but, I can not find my ADEdownloader.exe file.
I have downloaded all the versions and the patches from Flightsim and AVSIM but I still cannot find the .exe.
Is there a program that I have to buy somewhere or am I looking in the wrong place.
Have done internet searches and My Computer searches but still nothing.
Can you please help as I love using this program.

Kindest thanks

Martin

Martin,

The Downloader executable is installed in the ADE program folder. Please have a look and tell us what exe files you have in this folder.

Mind you that you can not start the downloader itself, it is used by the ADE main program.

If you download the patches directly then they should run and install the update. Knowing where the auto downloader is will not help as there is a small bug in the main program that stops it being found. This is fixed for the next release

Thank you Martin and Jon for your reponce, it is good to hear that this will be fixed in the next issue, but to answer your questions, here is the list of .exe files that are in the ADE folder.
Airport Design Editor
xml2shp
(all the patches and updates)

I have also added the window that appears when click on the updates.

Hope that this helps

Regards

Martin

You need to have version 1.20 or later installed.

Also you seem to be missing many of the exe files: I have

  • ADE-Check
  • ADEDownloader
  • ADEKiller
  • Airport Design Editor
  • unins000
  • UninsHS
  • xml2shp

There may also be some problem with your registry or other data. you may want to start with a clean install of version 1.20 and then apply the 1.35 patch. Martin is our installer guru so he may have more information.

Jon has already given you the best advise on how to proceed.

  1. Try to remove your ADE Installation via the Control Panel - this might fail since the Uninstaller executable is not where it should be.
  2. Rename your ADE directory if it is left after step 1.
  3. Install version 1.20 and then run the latest patch file.

From here on any problem should be a thing of the past :)

I have never had an installer it has just been a zip folder. Inside a normal folder (containing ADE) from there I have just placed the folder in my root FSX folder for use.
I have never seen a installer in any of the downloads that I have gotten from the major sites.
This may be the main problem that I am having, can you tell me where I can doenload the program again with the installer?

That would certainly do it. Every version since 1.20 has has an installer. You need first to get version 1.20 either from www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk or AVSIM. Then you will need the version 1.35 update - you can get this from AVSIM or if you click on Help Check for Updates in 1.20 once it is running then you should be able to download it.

Jon,
I have done as you said, and it is now working all the way up to 1.35. Thank you for all your help and thank you to martin.
As I said in my last post I have a download that is called
120_full.zip thats why I thought that it was the proper version. But that is all fixed now. Can't wait to start using it.
Thanks again to all.

Regards Martin

Does 120_Full.zip contain an exe installer? If not I wonder where you would have downloaded it from?
