• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 EHEH - Eindhoven Airport

I know that I been away but the project is not dead, and I defiantly want to get to the finish line, I'm doing it as a hobby so it may take time, ( I don't have a crew of modelrs so everything done by me, I take time to study and do it as accurate as I can, there is a lot of changes that go in the airport in the real life so I need to think how I will over come them, and also life it self take time and I find myself taking time off the project)
this time I can say that I can see the end, the ground poly is almost done and this will be the base for the assembly of the scenery
most of the buildings are done now, still need to finish small things inside the terminal and add small buildings to the airport area
I really jope that in the next update here I will have previews from inside the simulator and start showing the progress there

This MSFS thing can totally be used for architectural walkthroughs and presentations!! I wonder if any of the architectural firms are aware of that? 🤔

Looking amazing. You are on the homestraight Felix. Great to see you back working on the project, and great to have you back on Twitch/YouTube showing us how you make these beautiful models. Thank you

Although this is a bit out of context to the original post (sorry), but just to answer your curiosity, yess :D , we had one or two architectural firms contacting us about having their project replicated onto MSFS for them to have on their expo booths and stuff

Question for everyone here who's done a larger airport: when you do a large ground poly like this (to use as a PM) do you always count on it matching the actual satellite imagery without any offset or disctortion?
I guess if you do a CGL, you would also match them up in 3D software to make sure there's not distortion? Also with MSFS 2024, there are new high resolution materials which means you probably don't want to entirely rely on the PM? The MSFS 2024 PaintedLines are very high resolution and look great, do you still prefer to use PMs anyway? I've experimented with custom PMs and custom PaintedLines, and the weird PaintedLine PBR format is trickier, but using lines is kind of convenient.

great work. those buildings look incredibly well modelled and textured. do you use trim sheets?
btw, I am totally appalled at those SketchUp snaps. my bad, I didn't know it can create such life-like scenes and environments. Its render engine looks highly immersive.

yes, I do, well, I don't have a real survey file (what I used to do as an architect in real life) but on MSFS I'm trying to match the ground as accurate as possible, yes there is some in accuracy, but even in real life you have 2% margent to error, so I think my scenery is little bit above this 2%

the problem with EHEH is that it's an NATO base so it's pixeleted on MSFS, I could go with the data of the simulator but in this case I have to provide it by myself

thank you, not really, I'm using texture for each face, a repeating one and in the end I'm using MCX to put all the texture together in one sheet, this is my downside, I wish I had better knowledge in advanced warping of textures
Felix's EHEH not ready or when maybe?

Patricio Valdes
work still in progress, had lot of time in the past month to push it even more to the finish line, hopefully soon I will be able to share some updates here

must say that I also get some very big firm that turn to me, especially one, but they thought I'm don't know the value of the models I'm doing and they thought they will get some of the models for free or with a small donaition :) nop, turned them back

and I really want to show you the progress of what is going on
so curently I'm working on the 3D landscape parts of the airport
and the second thing here is the walkways roofing that been also modeled now
