• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

It's a process of trial and error, trail and error, trial and error, a bit of succes, trial and error, and so on;)

Well, main instrument panel is finished! Now I started with the throttle control.

Made this night the cockpit heater regulator and the tailweel locker. Progress is going on, but I need a fair bit of patience for this:o

Thank you:D

I'll tell a short story about the aircraft here! Totally, 147 D.21's were ever built, 36 by Fokker, and 97 in Finland. During the German invasion in May 1940 in the Netherlands, most D.21's were destroyed by that war. Only a few remained and entered service in the Luftwaffe. As far as we know, no one survived. In 1993, the wreck of a Dutch D.21 was recovered and is now displayed in Crash Museum Aalsmeer. A very useful source, because the cockpit is still mainly intact.

In Finland, only FR-110 survived, and is in restored state in the Central Aviation Museum of Finland.

In the airforce museum located at Soesterberg, there is a detailed replica. This is a good source as well.

For FS, this bird will make test flights soon, after I've finished the VC and simplified it to an 'external interior' :p

I've finished the rudder controls now. I guess I made the cockpit too wide, so I'll redo that soon!

Enjoy!

Joystick and pilot's seat are added, though not finished yet. This is just a nice pic, a peek into the cockpit:blush:

Quite a difficult cockpit by the way: nothing is hidden by panels or in boxes. All wires (OK, not a lot:)) and tubes must be modelled, but also animated. That will be a more precise job...

Anyway, progress is going on:)

Thanks for the kind comments:D Well, ozzman, you Challenger is 'not bad' too;)

Anyway, in my opinion the VC is finished. I could have added some detail around the seat, but this might be invisible and so just an performance-dragger. Behind the seat is still an open space, but I've to think about that.

Next step: optimizing details for performance.

Enjoy!

Just did a rough test, importing the cockpit into FSX:D it works:D but I've to check some normals at some places.

BTW, Blender is going to be quite useful now... I'm just tweaking some stuff, but I'm already excited about something...;)

Okay, thought that I finished my external model! But started thinking. And thinking. Hey, I'm missing the guy in the office! :p

So I had to model one. This one.

(Sorry, not very handsome:p)

I'm still dubbing if I put a cap or a 1939-40 Dutch Military Helmet on his head.

Have put the pilot in the external model, which is finished for 90% now! Here a few in-game shots. Next step would probably be texturing!
