• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

FSX/P3D : Abidjan Airport (DIAP) Ivory Coast

- " ... This BGL is an Altitude correction file for the Airport , in this file there are all the default Abidjan Airport , but at the real altitude of 6.5Ft. ... "

According to the AIP of Ivory Coast your airport should be at 6m/21ft.

Usually the altitude correction file contains nothing but the revised altitude. If I correct the altitude of DIAP I get a file called 'DIAP_ADEX_hf_ALT.bgl' and its size is 1 KB.
 
Oh , i made a typo, the airport is exactly at 21Ft , aproximatly 6m .

That's it !
The name of the .BGL depend of the name of your Afcad , If your Afcad is named "name.bgl" the altitude correction BGL must be named "name_ALT.bgl" and in this "name_ALT.bgl" , you should have the stock airport , but at 21ft/6m .;)

So , the Abidjan City changed a lot in FSX !

I placed a lot of Autogen buildings with Annotator , not completly finish yet , but the result is very Nice , i added too a lot of emblematic buildings of the City , some Famous Hotels, skyscrapers ...

I remade all the photoground , It now include the North part of Abidjan And the "Redish" aspect should be resolved , but the bigest work was for Coast Line patch !

I Made a coverage map , Nice to see What do the scenery cover now !

The buildings created with sketchup are some crazy FPS killer , for some simple buildings (5 faces) it's Nice , but for the hangars and others Complex Model it's impossible to do ...

I'll try to work with Gmax for the airport buildings , i deleted all the old airport installations for the moment.

This is a Work in progress version ,so don't panic if there isn't all the buildings on the airport, i'm working on thoses because the older were some FPS killers ...
 
Very nice work there...only thing u should change is the groundtextures of the airport concrete and it will be perfect :)
 
Infortunatly i realy don't have the skills to do a ground polygon for the airport, but i would love to be able to !
 
Hi Alex,

It is easy for me to say so but, unless you are a complete artistic failure allround, you too have the skills to do groundpoly. It just takes two things (if you do it my way?):
1. Learn to use the ADE GP Wizard as it should (and that takes a while because of Don Grovestine's peculiar way of presenting it and do not download the latest version straight away but wait untill the bugs are out). It is a beautiful program for FSX GP and even for P3D when it once has overcome it shortcomings in that respect.
2. You have to be a bit of an artist to make the GP textures!
Once that done, you will have to get MCX to convert stuff you made and that involves the use of the MCX possibilities that are probably more than you would know.
And finally, I disagree completely with the idea you have that SKetchup makes objects that influence the FPS too much. No, It does not! It only depends on knowing how to use the program as well. Have you tried combining textures so that they are a unique texture for a front of a building, for instance?
It is not easy but all the tools I mentioned, can make your scenery perfect (including perfecting the now sharp break between photoreal and landclass).
Wish I could help but still am without FS.

I'm very proud to announce the release of Abidjan DIAP V0.8 !

The news for this 0.8 version are :

- A ground polygon (i learnt more about the GP's, I tried to make one for the BIMA, (French Helicopter Base) and it works well !) and HD hangars for the French Military Base, now 100% usable

- Road traffic on the main axes of the city where you will see the vehicles if you activate the road traffic

- Fixed a "bug" who make lose their leaves to trees in winter, not very aesthetic and especially unrealistic for a country devoid of winter ! Actually I just selected the wrong trees, now the acacias who live exclusively in tropical country don't lose their leaves !

- Adding a lot of buildings and trees, even if the work is not finished, it's in progress !

I'm quite happy of the result,

There is a lot of custom building that I deleted before at the airport because off their ability to kill our fps, I have to remodelise all of them, but it would be ok before the official v1.0, for the moment some generic buildings are replacing them.

Don't hesitate to post some screens of Abidjan on your favorite forums, it's always cool and it allows others to know the existence of this scenery !

I made a video of a stormy landing at Abidjan, we can't see very well the scenery, it was just to test the ILS to see if the glide scope was good with the new afcad, and it work well.
