• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi, Russel

I should respect your decision, but you will really feel how your tool works when most people, with differents computers, experiences and ideas about functions they would expect from the tool, try to use that tool.

That has been the long way good tools followed, including Jon's excelent tool named SDE.

by now, we are left waiting for that promised tool, by a week or two, who knows?

Regards,

José

My apologies for picking your quote here,
my response is not in any way directed at yourself.

Maybe we should all keep quiet
and let the developers decide
when and to whom they release the tool.

There are already posts propogating across other forums,
next thing
the developers will have every Tom Dick & Harry wanting to stick their oar in. :yikes:

After all we've been here once before,
and don't want to repeat history. :tapedshut

Yes / No ?

Hi, Paul

No ofense, but I'm not here to keep quiet, but to receive and give help and opinions, and what I expressed was my personal opinion.

You criticized my opinion the same way I criticized the author's opinion.
Nothing to complain.

Let's maintain our point of view, but change when be convinced we are wrong.

hi Folks

Jose -
I agree entirely with what you are saying :)

It wasn't a criticism,
and as I said,
please don't take it as such. :whiteflag

However
only the development team know when they'll be ready.

If released publicly
they'll be subject to all the clueless mewannaaa's,
who give no consideration to the development process,
expecting everything to work out of the box,
and by telepathy,
without them ever reading the help file/manual.

This is too important to repeat AFCAD history.

I agree it is up to the developer to determine how to release an application, at what stage, and to who.

I have a particular approach that means I will release partial solutions in this community. That's my way and it suits my development style to get regular a frequent feedback. This can irritate some users who expect a solution to work - I have experience of this with a previous tool. The tool was defined a as Beta with incomplete documentation. This did not stop someone from berating me for software containing bugs and documentation containing spelling mistakes and some ambiguous instructions. I drew the line when I got a lesson in where to put commas and full stops :)

Having said that I agree that each developer needs to go on the route that suits them. On the other hand (like politicians) if we put our heads above the parapet then we should expect the odd rotten tomato.

Hi Paul and Jon

This is to let people know that it should be avileble fairly soon, and to invite people to be beta testers. We already have some people beta testing it, but more testers are always a good thing.
-Russell

I understand your opinions and do not want to contest them, absolutely.

But I should remember what the author told in his first post, above.

Best regards,

José

Hows it going mate? Any news?

I'm despereate to get my hands on an airport editor soon..

It's coming along. There are still some large peices of functionality that need to be implemented, along with any bug fixes and/or improvements that are suggested by the testers.

I have been away for the past five days and so am just getting back into the process again. :) Breaks are good!

Thanks for the positive comments! I'll let you know when the next version is ready. Should be sometime next week I think. :)

@rf360m

Great work. I follow the progress with a happy smile!
I am testing it and the main function would be to open the bgls directly from the FSX folder and then save bgl files that are completly FSX compatible!

Keep up the good work!
Mikael

It will be able to open BGL files directly, just haven't got that far yet.

The bgl files it creates should be FSX compatible. Is there a problem that you are having with them?
