• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 GMAX and the Tutorial for Ground polygons.

Use whichever driver suits your hardware, both are good. Just make sure whichever you use is properly configured.

As Tom says, either works fine. I use the one that makes GMAX crash the least. :)

Make sure to follow the instructions for increasing the screen resolution in that thread.

I should have put this instruction before anything on that tutorial. It is the most FAQ.
I think any tutorial after this I should write about the prerequisite before start.
I am going the write a tutorial about SODE jetway. It is the must on the first line of tutorial.....ha ha.

With the manual of jtannbodee and the video of revrengary, you are already well on your way.
And with the support of hairyspin .....:)
I made a complete manual in Dutch for myself, handy for the future .

Thanks all

Your're welcome, Kleine. Original thought was from Bill Womack's tutorial. Please give him the credit as well. I did translate his tutorial in Thai too.

Thus, the student teaches the instructor.

Coming in a bit late to this however…

When I started with gMax a decade ago, I found this book to be invaluable

The gMax Bible

I still use it…a lot!

Jumping right into gMax and doing ground polys right a way is a steep learning curve. I remember my first ground polys…they were ugly.

Even after a couple of months, the results were "nothing to write home about" as you can see here: Leros.zip Yuck.

I wish you well!

I did not know that this was Bill Womack's original.
Thanks Bill, for this manual .
Thx Hangar32, but the link dont work

I mean the original thought is from Bill. The thought of layers of different things stack into one place to make realistic look is his idea. I wrote a tutorial since things changed quite a lot. New tools such as MCX make us able to do quite easier and more accurate.

Four years ago I made my first scenery (EBBL for FSX).
Now, four years later, so much has changed.
I translate everything into Dutch and everything I make is Freeware.
It is thanks to people like you and Bill and so many others that scenery building has become such a nice hobby.

Thanks All :)
Peter
