• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How to Make Beta Versions Available

there are three threads at the moment associated with the current beta:
As Don reports we seem to have a problem with users not having either the latest ADE beta or the latest GP library.

Don is suggesting that we have a single thread with links for these three items.

If we go that route then we need to decide whether the change log for each new build is then located separately from the links (as is the case for production ADE updates)

What I will ensure is that each new beta update for ADE will now contain the latest version of the GP library and manual. This ensures that anyone updating the ADE beta will get the latest GP file and documentation.

So the issue becomes where the update cycle for the GP library is faster than the update cycle for the ADE Beta. In my experience most users are slow to update and even with ADE we get most errors reported by users using older versions.

I have never found a solution other than the on-line updater. I am loathe to put the beta updates through the on-line updater since I think that may be irritating if there are several per week.

My last research on production update cycles indicated a preference for monthly bug fix updates and quarterly or six monthly new function updates. Of course beta updates are different.

Hi Jon,

The online updater for the beta would be fine with me - constant updates are part of the beta testing process.

But any way you two want to set up the updating process is fine with me, as long as it's clear how I do it.

Hi,

I found it OK as it was ( I already explained why I thought so) but as I will be off the coming two weeks, I will trust your judging 'll be correct and see what is up when I get back.

I have just made a new beta installer available:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/4piforalicqghen/ade_160_4919_beta.zip

The main purpose of this is to provide a baseline to use the on-line updater for future beta changes.

This installer includes the latest release GP Library (0.80) and the latest GP Manual

From now on I will include any future updates to the library and manual available via the on-line update as well as changes to ADE itself

I hope this is the first step in improving updates for the beta.

Well I don't understand that - I just checked the installer rules and it uses install only if the file in the installer is newer than the one in your installation. The dates on the files in the installer are in March

I just tried here by changing the dates on my texture control files and using the installer - it did not over write the two files but left the newer dated ones.

I am changing the installer to never remove these files and only install it they are not present. Hopefully that will be better

Well, it overwrote mine, dated 14th and 19th June.

Mind you, dates are funny things. My backup files have a create date of today but modified dates as above.

I have changed it now and uploaded it again. I tested the new one and it works for me (but then so did the old one :o)
