How to update SbuilderX ?

Hi all,

I'm a bit frustrated as i have tried to update Sbuilderx inlight with a new project. I have first checked Google Earth and the location looks totally different to what i am seeing in Sbuilderx.

Therefore i downloaded new Google Server DLL file and placed them Sbuilderx Folder> Tiles and replaced all the files of Google map and the Google DLL file..

Yet i do not see any changes any updates in the imagery ?

Therefore i'm asking does anyone please know how to properly install Google servers or DLL files into Sbuilderx ?

Thanks :confused:

Skippy

I think the new Google .dlls are so that there is no problem when zooming in.

The new Google version will include updated satellite tiles. If Google has not updated tiles, then the tiles are the same. You may need to delete the Google Satellite folder, and let SBuilderX rebuild the folder, in order to get the new tiles.

tried at sao paulo, Brazil. And months ago it worked fine. all other services did not show the same detailed level as google did before

Older version of the Google DLLs should show older imagery ( which is why we need new versions of the DLLs occasionally, to show newer tiles ).

Also, the tiles come from Google Maps ( online mapping ), not Google Earth.

ok, i know about the old dll's and new ones. I have re-installed the SbuilderX. and pasted the newest version of the google.dll but still no result. I am also talking about the google maps images.

is there newer version of google dll server the current one is very long time in existence ? :)

New Server dll

Skippy: I am wondering the same thing. Google Earth has a brand new map of KMYR but the current map displayed with SBuilderX is not current. Can a Google Earth map be used with SBuilderX for FSX terrain?

Hello:

Indeed, the last version of the tile downloader DLL file for use with SBuilderX shows slightly 'older' aerial imagery for KMYR.

You may wish to review this thread to explore other options until Rhumbaflappy has released a newer DLL which can be used with SBuilderX:

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18767&highlight=Rhumbamaps

FYI: Rhumbaflappy's downloadable "RhumbaMaps" works rather nicely to acquire 'newer' tiles. ;)

BTW: RhumbaMaps works best, IMHO, by opening that HTML utility web page in Mozilla FireFox browser (with the FireShot plug-in installed): :idea:

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/fireshot/

The RhumbaMaps utility web page also provides Geo-referencing info which appears in a box under this label... "The boundaries of the map are:".

Put that Geo-referencing info into a *.TXT file with the same name as the saved screen capture.

Then put that Geo-referencing *.TXT file into the same folder as the downloaded tiles ...as explained by Dick:

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18774&highlight=FireShot

"An image saved as test.bmp, with a text file as above named test.txt will automatically be registered on import into SBuilderX or SBuilder... very handy."

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showpost.php?p=123133&postcount=8

FireShot should allow you to "Capture Entire Page and..." "Save" and then save as type bmp. My bitmaps are saved as 32-bit BMP files from FireShot.

Then you can make a text file with the same name as the bitmap.

Code:
[GEOGRAPHIC]
[COLOR="Red"]Name=Photo_Test[/COLOR]
North=57.722577691239145
South=57.69506609743795
West=-3.369112014770508
East=-3.300447463989258

I copied this from gmaps, and added the 'Name=Photo_Test'. That line specifies this will be a photoreal source for SBuilderX.

Move the BMP and it's twin TXT file to SBuilder's Work folder ( mine is 'C:\Program Files\SBuilderX313\Tools\Work' ).

When you "Add Map | From Disk " to SBuilderX, it will be ready for Photoreal generation without any renaming or calibration. Just select it, and compile.

Dick

CAVEAT: Apparently, SBuilderX requires aerial imagery *.BMP tiles and associated Geo-referencing *.TXT files to be placed in a specific sub-folder to find / use them properly: :alert:

[Sbuilderx install path]\Tools\Work

Hope this helps ! :)

Maps

Gary: thx. It's hard to update an airport with maps that do not show a whole new terminal and gates (which I recreated from scratch using Sketchup, Google Earth, and the actual building plans) and surrounding main ingress roads that have been there awhile. Your info should help. John

Hello:

Glad that alternative option might help by using RhumbaMaps so kindly made available to us via Rhumbaflappy.

BUT you may also be pleased to know...

Due to the recent frequent postings by participants in this forum, an announcement of the newest "GoogleServer_v128.zip" GoogleMaps tile server *.DLL release on 16 May 2013 at 17:39 by Rhumbaflappy may have been overlooked: ;)

http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19913&page=2

Enjoy ! :)

PS: Many thanks (again), Dick ! :cool:

How to request an update of the Google tile server

How to request an update of the Google tile server:

The easiest way is to send me a personal message through the forum. I don't keep up with every Google update.

...You're welcome Gary :)

Again- confusing- dump the google library in SbuilderX... close SbuilderX down and restart and SbuilderX will rebuild the library with new data?

or get this new dll and install it?
OR Both?

Not pocking fingers in anyone's eyes but sometimes I feel my master brain surgeon is guiding me through an intricate surgery then half way through- he leaves to go play a round of golf! hahaha!

I try to get this newer 16 May v128.zip

Hope there are instructions to this. Last time it took me a while to figure out where this goes, but I did then I'll do it now.

so it seems- install the new dll, then might have to delete the lib for it to rebuild? y/n? Bob thanx

Newest DLL

Hello:
the newest GoogleServer_v128.zip GoogleMaps tile server *.DLL release on 16 May 2013[/I][/B] at 17:39 by Rhumbaflappy
GaryGB

Gary & Rhumbaflappy: Thanks both for the info, but this new DLL, which includes KMYR, is still too far out of date for my purposes, even though Google Earth is up-to-date, and the Rhumbamaps have watermarks that are hard to compensate for. I just wish the Google Earth ones would work with SbuilderX, since I am not going to publish the work, but only use it for my enjoyment. I used the current DDL for the Photoreal and added what I needed with ADE for the parking lots and ingress roads that are missing and Sketchup 8 for the new buildings (terminal, hangars & fire station). I guess I have to wait for a further updated DLL. Thanks to you both for your efforts. :)

Actually, the KMYR image is exactly the same in SBuilderX as Google earth with the new v128 GoogleMaps DLL. You probably need to delete your Google tile folder to repopulate it with the newest tiles.

Dick

KMYR Tiles

Dick and jyardog: Yippy! I finally figured out how to install the new ddl and Dick, you are absolutely correct. My bad. Sorry for the trouble, but the instructions weren't very clear. Thanks again. John :)
