• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Looking for dev crew

The shear fact that PMDG is focusing on large aircraft is our reason for starting this project. Yes, it's fun to fly a 777, however how many pilot's that are working on ATP minimums or building hours as a CFI are planning for a 777 or 757 to be their next aircraft? Realistically, none.

The flight sim community has been lacking mid level training aircraft for a long time. We realize that your first part 121 commercial pilot job is going to be in an ATR, an ERJ, a CRJ, a Dash, even aircraft like Dassault, Cessna. Our goal is to fill the gaps in where the aircraft haven't been developed yet, or the current ones are antiquated in comparison. We wan't to give you all the tools you need to prepare you for indocs, or to just simply have a good time.

Just curious: does this also include aircraft like the Cessna 310 and Piper Cheyenne?

Thanks for your response, it looks like a niche set of aircraft may indeed find market interest. Best of luck!

Bill, Max 2015 is listed in the P3D SDK and 2016 will work as well. I have no problem exporting to FSX with my copy of 2015. I'm not on my computer right now but I'm pretty sure Max 2011 is also listed.
Yep, my bad. I haven't installed the v3.1 SDK yet, but I do see 2012, 14, and 15 supported in the old v2.4 SDK. Nice to know that the chaps at L-M are keeping the Max export tool up-to-date!

BTW, Milviz already has an outstanding Cessna C310R available.

Hi Folks,

I've got more time in the DA Cheyenne than any other aircraft in my stable - I'd kill for one not locked to the buggy Trimble... Whomever did the FDE did an outstanding job as this bird just feels real... Anyone ever get the GTN fully operational in P3D - won't drive the HSI ??? I did have it working in FS9 with the RXP GNS...

As for the projects you mentioned - thoroughly enjoyed the FT ERJ's in FS9 - really got hooked on the FADEC engine control with the autopilot - would love to see one updated for today's standards in P3D...

Anyone ever look at Erik's shared source code for the EMB-120 ? Seems like it may be a good starting point for a project - just needs a VC and systems... A payware quality version of that bird is high on my list and long overdue...

I've been flying the MilViz C310 a lot lately in P3D - and it's a pretty nice package - I like it a great deal... Well worth a purchase...

Best of luck in your endeavors...

Regards,
Scott

Currently I'm doing all of the lead modeling, some texture work (I limit myself as I have little imagination) and I'm doing audio and some coding. Oh, and pushing the PR Lol

That's great too hear. We've too often had people starting development groups as nothing but whipcrackers (project managers), which is less than attractive to get people to collaborate.
Your involvement shows otherwise, so best of luck with your projects.

A VC for the Cantu/Eagle Rotorcraft version is somewhere down on my personal list. Of course not with all bells and whistles.

Hi H,

Thanks for the info on the EMB-120 - wasn't aware of it - unfortunately the last official update from RazBam was in Apr 2014 - checked there FB page and plenty of unhappy campers there too - looks like RazBam has moved over to DCS completely... Sigh... There was a RazBam comment saying they were incapable of building an FDE for it - a shame if that's all they needed... The model work looked good and in an advanced state of completion...

Regards,
Scott

Thank you! And you're correct, I've always had the saying, never ask anyone to do something that you would not do yourself!

I should be revealing the progress on our latest project tomorrow night!

Here it is, ERJ145 LR/XR - Sorry the renders are not that great, however this is the current project

Show it off in the Showroom here and drop a subtle hint that you're still looking for (paid) assistance. Maybe it'll help.

The last complete model of the series was Wilco's, right?
Well, guess it's time for a new one.

Thanks! I will!

And yes it was Wilco/Feelthere it was an FS9 native model that was missing a-lot of parts and detail

They said that they wanted to spend a year researching newer FDE methods to bypass FSX's horribly broken turboprop model. I have high hopes that this year of quiet development will bring that quality EMB-120 you were looking for.

Now in terms of regional size aircraft, I think it's time we had a detailed An-140/IrAn-140. The Russian aircraft from SCS and Project Tupolev have proved to be very popular, and I have no doubt that a Russian/Iranian regional airliner would take the flightsim community by storm.

The real thing doesn't sell well at all. Why would a FSX version do any better?

They don't sell well because "Russian Aircraft" are no bywords for safety is it? Or even efficience.... But they look awsome so I'd think a whole lot of people would like to fly them in-sim

Most aviation accidents in Russia are caused by human error instead of technical malfunction.

But speaking of russian aircraft, a Superjet might generate just enough interest in the community to warrant development. Same for any of the other upcoming flopjets like the C-Series, EJet 2.0, MRJ or MS-21. To keep development time down, it doesn't even have to be simulated to the n-th degree. I think a well looking model with default-plus kind of systems (you can't get ahold of any amount of in-depth information anyway) and a resonable pricetag is doable and could use some of the "first on the market" potential.

It's actually quite sad with the An-140, because the version with the Pratt and Whitney engines really is quite comparable in terms of performance and efficiency to western aircraft. The problem is just the stigma with Eastern European aircraft. Plus it really is a good looking airplane compared to the ATR or the Dash.

I feel like now that there is a license built version in IrAn (cleverly named the IrAn-140), maybe things will start to change.

Unfortunately Bjoern, things are changing in terms of expected systems depth. There really isn't quite the market for "lite" aircraft anymore. Even I have been changed. When I started simming, I didn't care about visuals or systems, I only cared about a good soundset. Now it can look like it was drawn in MS paint and sound like FS4, because I've turned into a total systems junkie (I actually merged the PMDG B1900C with the AdLabs6 Turboprop Airliner Panel, and it really puts some life into it with some tweaks). But I know that a lot of people prefer lite aircraft, and I think it's a shame that they don't have as many options anymore.

It looks just like an ATR with more blades.
One major issue of operating russian aircraft in the opposite political sphere of influence is the availability of spare parts due to political relations. Interjet probably only went for the SSJ because the price was right and it contains a lot of non-russian parts and know-how. This is enough leverage to ensure spare part supply in a strained political climate. The mere option for a different set of engines as on the An-140 is simply not enough to generate interest. Especially since the maket for 50 seat turboprops has been sucked dry by the CRJ and ERJ in the 1990s. There's also increased demand for capacity as evidenced by the successful Q400 and ATR72.

Now that the sanctions are lifted, the iranian aircraft industry is more likely poised to look west for new aircraft.

There definitely is a market for "lite" aircraft and model availability seems to win over systems fidelity in a lot of cases. See CLS, Virtualcol, default aircraft and many, many freeware releases.
Heck, I've even read complaints about custom three-step startup procedures because they can't be done with CTRL+E anymore!
