• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

mdl to gltf with mcx (problems)

Good morning everyone, my name is Iker. First of all, I would like to congratulate Arno (creator of MCX) for the great tool created. I don't want to forget all the other users who create a fantastic community and help others.

I'm trying to export several of my own fsx models to msfs.

I play in VR mode and therefore legacy mode does not work for me, my idea is to export these models to gltf to be able to pilot in VR (if I put VR on a plane in legacy mode the simulator closes)

When I convert to gltf, when I put it in msfs, it looks transparent, it only works when it is in .mdl, I have tried a thousand ways, I have been going crazy for 15 days, doing hours a day and it is impossible. There is something I forget or I don't do.

I ask you guys for help, a soul to shed light on me :)

In my admittedly very weak visualization of the scene I don’t see any transparency on that image, only the reflection of light on the shiny floor. If you don’t want that remove the shine from the floor?

Maybe i explain bad my case.

When i convert my planes to gltf i cant see in msfs (in this photo you can see the tipycal hangar where u see your installed planes in game)i have selected my converted plane, but dont appear, only i can see if is in .mdl extension

Did you run the gltf files through the MSFS package tool first?

Did you have a look at the SDK and the samples that come with it? That should be a good start. I only did scenery myself, so I don't know the details of aircraft. But the glTF that MSFS loads is optimized by the package tool. So just loading the MCX output directly won't work.

Arno, i have one question about mcx...

imagine i import one model (.mdl) and i want put one lod in this with other mdl (to make 2 .mdl together) its possibility to align one with other moving? i see we have a possibility with valors of X,Y,Z. But for me is hard, its a possibility to move one object with mouse?

You can specify the offset when merging indeed, but not really dynamically, so it will be a bit of trial and error.
