• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum

Models in ADE

I did notice he is running ADE 170. I told him to dump it and go to the 175 (176) which can switch back and forth between FSX and P3D. I did the add library obj myself as he id doing... mine worked great. I wonder if it is compiling into a default airport - not his. But checking his stuff through Skype it looks like he is using the right icao, which disables the default. Years ago he was afraid of hurting the default so he would name his airport with a different icao… then he called me and asked why he was getting extra rwys in his scenery. Checking this I showed him what he had done... now having two airports with different icao's sitting on top of each other. Told him to use the same icao… it won't hurt the default, just disable it. Problem solved.

So I wonder if something similar might be happening? He does have the correct icao. I'll have him do another search for that obj file and see where that ended up, because it IS compiling to somewhere!!! Bob

If this is indeed a library object does he have the library BGL file located in an *active* scenery folder?

He is using a default library. He is trying to install one of those Edwards AFB hangars or FBO's. Using IS3 it works great. Using ADE he can place it where he wants... compile... ok so far. go the scenery in game... no hangar. go to program … He has his folder active, scenery and texture folders inside it... open scenery folder... no ade_obj file. He tried another scenery site as I suggested. THER his obj file showed up but still no object appeared in the scenery. He is using ADE 170 instead of newer versions. I'll try to learn more and get back to ya.

TG- he found his problem. He recently RE-installed FSX. He forgot that his orig settings were set to Sparse. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the rest is history! right?! hahahaa 99% of the time-- the easy and simplest solution.

Yep, always the easy solution, but the last one you think of...

TGib- Sometimes I really blow it. But then I always fess up. Everyone here then has a good laugh! hahaha I tried his placements in FSX and in P3D4.4 all worked well. As I told one of my young mechanics, years ago before I went into education,- screwy problem? always go back to basics and check everything! ;)

I always place my .MDL,BGL,and my textures in my FSX scenery folder and put my textures in my FSX textures folder, so far it always seems to work with no issues. I just add the .MDL to the models list then add the model to the airport and compile it. works every time with no issues so far. I do however have one slight problem, I needed to fix some of my models so I deleted them from the airport and the model list. however there is one still left that says I have 8 instances of that I can't find in order to remove them and delete the model. Is there any way to locate placed models so I can remove them?

Tom... in ADE top menu bar, find LISTS then go down to scenery objects. Then try to find the object yo need to delete.ove this smallwindow to the side and see that each obj yo click on readusts the main window over to where that object is. Yo can then hilite it right click and delete. Then go back to lists - models- and continue from there.
