• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.

MSFS20 MSFS Asobo Official Blender exporter

If I built a house in Blender 3.4 can I take it into 3.2 and export it. I'm also having terrible trouble getting the multiexporter to install in my 3.2. It installs into my 3.4 but won't export. I need some advice as I have been struggling for weeks with it.

I'm guessing if you save the Blender file in a backwards-compatible way, without anything unsupported in 3.2, it should work. But why are you trying the exporter in 3.2? This thread discusses how 3.3 is supported with the latest exporter, and previously you had to use 3.1. You're not supposed to use 3.2.

Thanks for the reply. I will download 3.3 and give it ago. Sorry I'm new to Blender and have been spending a lot of time learning building even though I having been trying to sort this export issue for weeks as I said.
I'm not new to 3d modeling just new to blender. In fact I used to build addons in the earlier versions of MSFS years ago.

I understand completely, and if you watch all the tutorials out there they also use various versions that may or may not work with versions of other tools that were available at the time. If you're starting with Blender now, use 3.3 and install the latest io_scene_gltf2_msfs.zip file, as shown on the previous page. Use the MSFS exporter tool tab shown in the screenshots, not File/export.
By the way if you made a model in 3.4, you should be able to use the File/Append option in 3.3 and it'll probably take what it can and keep the file compatible.

I haven't had any trouble opening my 3.4 files into 3.3 because they are relatively simple house models. (I download 3.3 since your last post.)
Where I'm have trouble at the moment is 3.3 won't install the glTF-Blender-IO-MSFS-1.1.6 exporter.
It won't show in the addon list let alone in the tab area.

I wonder if this is an issue with the Zip download version of 3.3 that I got from the Blender archive.
Is there another way of downloading it? The Blender download only allows me to download the latest version.

Please read this post completly and carefully. You are most likely downloading the wrong zip. Download the release 1.3.0 on the right side, NOT the code green button.

Thanks for the help Ron.
I finally found the file and it install ok. Tomorrow i will see if it will work.

Well I'm still having no luck exporting LOD's. I only get some of the bin and gltf files.
Eg. LOD00 has both bin and gltf files
LOD01 has only the gltf file
LOD02 has only the bin file.
Can anyone give me some advice?

About the one with gltf file only, make sure you have your meshes inside the collection
The other with bin only is really ankward

Thanks for the tip. I'm sure the all the meshes are in the collections However, I will triple check.
I've been following the tuts on Myphysical world which are really good.

Still not progress exporting. This is the error report I have been getting.

The official exporter only works with the 3.3 LTS release.

Still not progress exporting. This is the error report I have been getting.
Also try using the latest LTS release version which should be 3.3.4, not 3.3.0 which may be the source of the script throwing those errors, I am using the newest export release with the 3.3 LTS release on steam and have not had this issue at all.

@solid ..... try this use this zip to install into 3.1.2.. I download the main installer and did not realize that I need this zip file that was in the full download. Point to this zip and it should work. I believe you can use it on 3.3 but no newer version.

Greets,
BobM.

Please go to the release page on the - right side of the ASOBO git site.

Once you are at that page then downlkoad the zip file io_scene_gltf2_msfs.zip

if this zip file does not work you may have to re package it into a zip file that does not start at the folder io_scene_gltf2_msfs. unzip select the io_scene_gltf2_msfs inside the io_scene_gltf2_msfs main folder and zip that up. I've asked ASOBO to fix this, but not done yet.

At a loss! Installed Blender 3.3.5 LTS

bail.png
and Asobo Exporter 1.3.0. Models of previous Blender version (3.1 and Asobo 1.1.6) loaded into New Blender. When exporting, the process errors out (above). Decided to start a fresh model, but when I try to add a .png (4096x2048) to an unwrapped model, the export process still bails. I know I have the correct Asobo exporter....not from the green code button...but of the latest release .zip. Installed the exporter both using the zip file and decompessing and moving into the ../scripts/addons folder. Both I had the exact sample bail during the export. If I remove all material calls to the .png textures and use either NO textures or native blender colors (no .png) the export work fine.
