• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Some folks may remember me as having once been rather active in FSX/P3D development here and elsewhere over the past decades.

My name is Bill and I am a disabled U.S. Army veteran. Last week as I was returning home from helping another Army veteran who'd just had major surgery get settled back in his home, a very large pothole managed to break the right rear McPherson strut and bend the right upper control arm. I had no choice but to drive very slowly and carefully to get my car back home before the tire quite literally exploded.

I live in a modest little cottage in a very heavily wooded area here in south central Arkansas. The nearest grocery store is nearly ten miles from here, and the local VA Clinic is around sixteen miles. The VA Hospital in Little Rock is fifty-six miles from me. Not having a drivable car is a major handicap.

I've created a GoFundMe account to raise the funds needed to get this old vet's twenty-five-year-old Toyota Camry back on it's feet, er... I mean wheels!

Hello Bill

First of all, I really missed you a lot my dear friend. Haven't hearing from you is no joke... Glad you're safe and sound.

Take care and come back if you're able!
Kindest regards,
Sergio Kauffman Acosta.

I was able to give a small amount. I encourage everyone to donate so our old friend Bill can get back on the road!

Thanks rhumbaflappy! Any amount is deeply appreciated...

P.S. I really am "fried" with this ridiculous 105ºF heat here in south central Arkansas! :yikes:

Thanks to the generosity of my friends here as well as at AVSIM the goal has been met and I am hoping to arrange for my poor car to be towed to the repair shop tomorrow so it can hopefully be fixed quickly.

I had two appointments at the Veterans Administration Clinic this morning, so had to call for a ride from SCAT mini-bus service. They charged me $15 for roundtrip service, which frankly is very reasonable considering that UBER car ride wanted $60 for the same trip!!

Glad we were able to help. You've certainly helped me a lot over the years and I can't count the number of ESDG Ramplights I have placed into dozens of airports!

Well, a rollback picked up my car and took it to the repair shop Friday morning. Hopefully, I will find out tomorrow when it might be fixed!

I've donated as well. You have helped me out tremendously over the years with my projects, it's my turn to help you out.

Thank you so very much. I appreciate every donation, and please know that it will be helpful getting my car sorted out.

It appears that every garage in Hot Springs is suffering from an over-abundance of vehicles needing to be fixed. I visited the garage this morning and the owner told me that he was waiting for his parts suppliers to call back and let him know if they can get the parts needed. He said he would bump my car to the front of the line and try to get it repaired ASAP - for certain values of "soon" I suspect...

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the owner/chief mechanic was a Formula One owner/driver and is presently building and driving a "Funny Car!" That gives me some confidence that he is an experienced and competent mechanic.

Good to hear Bill, you deserve someone in your league: THE VERY BEST!

Take care, my dear friend.
Sergio Kauffman.

Hello BIll: I'm actually sorry I missed this thread when you posted it, but I am pleased that things seem to be heading in the right direction. For some stupid reason I thought you lived up in the North East, not in the Deep South!

I used to live in NW Indiana. I relocated to SW Arkansas just over a year ago. I currently live about 9 miles west of Hot Springs in the deep woods of the Hot Springs National Park in a modest cottage. That is why getting my car fixed crucial, as I have no ready way to get groceries!

Cue my "Happy Dance!" I just spoke to the garage's owner, and he told me my car is fixed finally. Yahoo! :wizard:

The repair replaced both rear McPherson struts since the shock absorbers are an integral part of the struts and having them replace only one would result in an uneven ride, as well as being rather unsafe. Tomorrow I am going to have both rear tires replaced so I can put the spare back in the trunk, along with the rather plain steel wheel...

Again I wish to express my deep gratitude for all of the support from my friends here and elsewhere. Without this priceless assistance I would still remain trapped in the deep, dark woods unable to get places I need to be easily!

I am posting this as a FINAL update on the donated funds. As I stated any funds left over would be used to help another Veteran in distress. I've started a separate GoFundMe campaign for the very person I had brought home a few weeks ago from the Little Rock VA Hospital. He had undergone lower colon surgery to remove a large mass that nearly blocked his lower intestine. Last year he had a partial thyroidectomy.

His 40+ year air conditioner/heater had catastrophic failure and is far past its expiration date. I am not, repeat not asking anyone here to make a donation, but wanted to let you wonderful folks know that you have also helped yet another Veteran in distress! What a lovely and loving bunch of friends!

I did a little that I could to help and sent this on to another vet I know so if he goes to your site before he sees you made your goal then you can help your friend. We all gotta help each other. I will keep your friend in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
