• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

New MiG-15Bis for P3D and MSFS&FSX from BearStudios.

I'm aware there is no AP with the Mig in real life, however real life commitments have me on and off the PC every few minutes.

With help from Bill, at the expense of tackpack capabilities for p3d v5(non existent anyway) a slight modification to allow for the model to support AP features.

you just need to to edit MiG15_Logic.xml file in the gauges .cab located in the AC's panel folder

you need to remove the following from the xml file

or swap out the attached xml in the zip in the MiG.CAB (remember to back up your original)
Very Thanks, I have changed logic in Ver1.1 to reserve autopilot`s hold functions after your study and modify.
Now it only cufoff when droptank arm and droptank signal light switch on, so when droptank signal light switch off, you may active autopilot hold functions.
 
I will upload painkit and manual to avsim.ru or simvation, maybe with a skin paint like this egg girl aircraft toy model

2, Add PBR RoughMetallic Materials for P3D Versions Models. (So if install for P3D 32bit versions before V4.4, Install FSX or FSX Steam Version Aircraft manually on P3D installed folder)
or install P3D versions V4.x/5.x, then copy FSX aircraft models to overwrite P3D`s aircraft model for P3D 32bit versions. FSX model have no PBR textures.
 
MSFS version aircraft model nearly done
Almost all animations can run, but no inactive conditional control elements, such as warning light, exterinor lights...
2d gauges need to study and rebuild from P3D aircraft.

Is it suggestion on next project? UTI? MiG-17F/PF/Lim-5/6? or MiG-29?
Talk about a difficult question! I agree with the others concerning UTI and Mig-17. Likewise also think it is better to stick to older planes, especially considering your current life situation I think best to stay away from modern military hardware, even if it is from the 1980s.

Super excited to see the Mig-15 release! will purchase soon

Bill one thing, I noticed it in P3D version, maybe its to late to solve it, I dont know, but its visible on this MSFS shots too. Acoording me, something is a little wrong in the shape of nose. According me is too rounded if we look to real 15s. If you look more carefully you can notice that the front hole is a little smaller in the model than in real life (I suppose), so maybe here is a reason why the edge of the front is more rounded? If you can still, pls check it please :) I added the picture from DCS too, here its ok for me. You can check position of front camera to the size of the hole. In model is too small I think.

Yes I have see it. the airintake inside shapes and ouside shap are 2 parts for different textures, so it has no smooth on edges for round as real.
I may repaint for inside shape texture for looks more round at the edge , but it seems still can not have same round as 2 parts weld up.
add more polygons can not deal with this.
so when I complete animation, I will take more test and modify on shapes to balance it.

Maybe this depend on my eye condition or reference drawing lines, I check in 3dsmax, the aircraft nose intake diamter is right, but when I create shape, it become current look.
I will leave shaps modifiy just after animation, very thanks about for you point out this.

As you can see, in real the edge of the hole is more sharp according me, in model is too rounded. Ok, I see it. Attached pics make helpful, but the link can not access in my side, just display 404 not found and blank page.
As the drawing you point out, it is possible to cut the small round segments, and reverse normal on it, weld to intake inside faces, so the out shape have correct intake hole diameter and inside have smooth edge.
But it still depend on test, if the edge inside export from 3dsmax become too hard, I may rebuild whole nose shape to corretc this issue.
I am fighting on condition visible/invisible parts now, so aircraft shapes will modify before final assemble and export.
Then, I can make changes in P3D/FSX version upgrade too.

Personally I know that those both models are not finished too (payware is even worse than free version LOL, free wip and looks like the author abondoned this project some time ago) ;). I wrote about Your MiG on SOH and on MSFS FB military group and some people are waiting for your work :)! It will be a good idea if Your MiG will have external weapons too but for Marketplace must be the version without weapon on external payloads, just fuel tanks (maybe 2 kind of exteranl tanks?). In different stores (like Just Flight for example) you can sell models with external weapon, however MiG-15bis didnt have it a lot ;).

For external stores you can use any kind of "store manager" inside of cockpit. It works well in MSFS, something like this configurator tool:
(but of course not tablet for MiG-15 :D ), switches will be fine too).

Ok, I see.
I can see screen shot pics about WIP aerosoar MiG-15 on flightsim.to. this freeware mod have nice model, but the author have not update any more from last year.
Can not login and download this mod yet. youtube can not access from my side behine the wall either.

I slight modify the nose air intake, but the inside shape after intake lip round have UWV mapping on other texture 15_ACE.DDS from main fuselage 15_ACF.DDS, so it looks still strange as 2 parts.
The fuselage texture have no space for paint it.

MSFS exterinor lights (navigation and landing light) still not work. I have follow sdk steps on light texture, but it seems not working.

I will merge modified model and FDE changed for P3D Version , setup will update to 1.2
the main goal is keep shapes and functions as possible on same code in MSFS
To aviod make more html instruments in MSFS, I will change transponder code to shape as animation and replace in P3D version first, so the xml code can be use in MSFS.
Many changes in MSFS SDK cause programming become more complex unnesserary, this Ver1.2 model may update take 2 weeks.

MiG-15Bis Mod Update Version 1.2

Characteristic:

1, Prepar3D V4.4+ aircraft exterior and virtual cockpit models support PBR material

2, Prepar3D aircraft model supports combined cockpit light system with attached spot lights and flood lights

3, Prepar3D and FSX aircraft modules support weapon systems (via VRS TacPack for Prepar3D Academic/Professional, FSX SP2 and Steam Edition or Prepar3D Professional Plus's built-in weapon capabilities)

4, New aerodynamic characterization model that implements a unified aerodynamic model from FSX, Prepar3D and MSFS2020 platforms

5, New aircraft exterior model, modified part of the aircraft structure and animation settings

6, New control logic, so that the key mapping function can be operated in the cockpit and the aircraft exterior view

7, 25 HD livery skins

Issues Fixed:

1, The air intake on aircraft 3D model has been modified to make its shape closer to the actual photo

2, The aircraft cockpit glass material reset, for rendering effect closer to the real glass effect

3, In the aircraft cockpit, the luminous material of the ultraviolet illumination instrument (the main flight instrument) repaint closer to the actual photo

4, Fixed the position error problem of some light sources in the aircraft external lighting system, and modified the parking position of the GPU car to avoid it wheel sink too much into ground surface

5, Add PBR material system to Prepar3D model and add bump material for the canopy frame model

6, Aircraft ejection seat animation modification, fixed the issue which conflict between the VRS ejection seat and the stock animation in aircraft model

7, Aircraft aerodynamic characteristics model modification, enhance the stability of the aircraft, and fixed issue for the true airspeed and indicate airspeed at high altitude indication, Add stall and spin characteristic

8, Fixed the fuel transfer sequence issues on the fuel automatic management system, to avoid the problem when setting fuel before or during the flight, fuel stop transfer from droptanks or rear tank

9, Fixed the payload reload issues, which can not be synchronous between 3D model and control logic gauge, follow 2 different processes

A: when using integrated kneeboard to reload the gun, press gun type tags 2 times, wait gun ammo quantity reloaded for firing

B: when reload the bomb or droptank, press payload type tags 1 to 2 times, after the corresponding payload mount icon appears, need to switch on droptank or bomb release circuit switch again



Additions and Changes:

1, On the aircraft configuration page of the integrated kneeboard, prompt tag of current transfer fuel tank has been added

2, When using the radio navigation page of the integrated kneeboard to set radio compass control box (ARK-5/K-7) current frequency, K-7 receive frequency from kneeboard and stop manual input from K-7`s frequency /band turning knobs. when

using K-7`s manual frequency input, kneeboard’s frequency selector must set to X position, or on blank frequency lines.

3, According to the user's suggestion, the function of manually changing the autopilot working procedure has been added, if it has necessary to use autopilot maintain altitude and heading when flying in the cruise route, Switch ON droptank circuit, Switch OFF droptank signal light switch, use any third-party or FS/P3D stock autopilot panel to control the autopilot function.

(I use the autopilot flight director calculation function to provide attitude and acceleration for the gyro sight, so the aircraft's autopilot system turns off all hold functions by default to avoid conflict issues with the aircraft's actual flying control characteristic)

4, The gyro sight algorithm modified to add the function of temporarily switching the gyro sight to a fixed reticle when opening the air brake/spoilers, added function of using the gyro reticle when shooting ground targets (it is recommended to still use the fixed reticle, or use a backup cross crosshair, to avoid the lag of gyro reticle cause error between aiming point and the bullet tracer, In VRS TacPack environment, it is necessary to use the fixed reticle aim to selected ground target first, then use any gun sight modes to shoot)

5, When shooting aerial targets, it can using all 3 modes include gyro or fixed reticle, or backup crosshair, when using fixed reticle or backup crosshair, the default convergence distance is 400 meters



6, The gyro reticle add the jump function during pursuit target to simulate the delay characteristics of the mechanical computer when the distance and angle change drastically

7, Gyro sight reticle brightness adjustment changed to 24 levels of continuous adjustment, the initial brightness is the brightest level, to facilitate the Prepar3D V5 when turning on enhanced atmospheric system rendering, to avoid reticle and background sky mixed up when contrast too small, in Prepar3D V4 or FSX versions, you can manually adjust to the appropriate brightness.

8, Increase acceleration of aircraft attitude change in each view camera, cause the perspective to shake and tremble, add the unique parameter setting function of Prepar3D in the Aircraft .cfg

9, Add limit for pitch /bank not than +/-45 degrees, and less than Mach 0.7 when release droptank/bomb from aircraft.

Install the upgrade

1. Download the V1.2 installer, save your own modified painting, etc. to a safety backup folder and then install V1.2 files to overwrite installed files.

2. If you want to use none PBR material model in Prepar3D, you can manually install the FSX version to the directory of Prepar3D, overwriting Prepar3D version PBR model and materials

Future developments

I am currently working on the unified development of the aircraft module for the MSFS2020 and Prepar3D version.

The MiG-15Bis mod will be the first product to be compatible with same compatibility features as much as possible cross multi-platform.

MiG-15Bis MSFS2020 version will be launched independently, and will be released soon.

Hello Bill, any news about MSFS version? :) How is going?
During last weeks, I have study and modify P3D elements include models and flight model to MSFS in same modeling, animation, texturing and logic format. The result is P3D V1.2 update has much MSFS 2020 tech elements
And nearly same flight characteristic using same technology.
The main block on P3D to MSFS 2020 has removed.
MSFS 2020 version has no weapon system, so the related system maybe override to avoid issues to MSFS stock controls define, aircraft system in 3d model and logic programming begine in this week and I will make test screenshot.
