• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Photoreal Scenery Quality

Hello,

I was wondering if somebody could give me some advice. I am working on a project in South Africa and have managed to find a relatively detail Background photo for the scenery and before I resample it the photo looks quite good and detailed but in fsx the photo is quite a lot more blurry. I was just wondering if there is any ways to improve the quality of the photo scenery?

Hi Bailey:

The resulting BGL file output by FSX SDK Resample via your submitted INF file and aerial imagery source files ...can be examined in:

[FSX SDK install path]\Environment Kit\Terrain SDK\TmfViewer.exe

When loaded into TMFViewer, one can see what LOD's were actually created within that BGL output by FSX SDK Resample:

TMFViewer Menu > View > Level Of Detail

You may wish to examine your own BGL from the OP above in TMFViewer, and post your results here.

You may also wish to attach or post the code text of the INF file used, and attach a FSX screenshot within the area covered by your photo-real BGL.

Also, please state whether you are also using any other 3rd party land class ground texture add-on ex: "Global Environment X" (aka "GEX") or OrbX FTX Global.

PS
: Be sure to keep backups of any aerial imagery source files in their original format, and only work with copies of those files for purposes of FS scenery creation. :pushpin:

Hope this helps with the learning process ! :)

Sorry for the obvious question, but are your terrain texture settings sliders maxed out in FSX?

Hello Everyone,

I managed to fix it, for some reason the texture resolution had changed to medium without me realising :banghead: , thanks for everybody's help, the airfield is going well though, I have just started adding 3D grass and I am really starting to like it.

Regards
Bailey
