• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Starting it off, I used the automatic online Windows 11 update from Microsoft and had very few issues. The whole process was automatic and took about 2 hours to complete. MSFS did have an issue in that the FLY button didn't work for me. I rebooted my computer, then I renamed my MSFS data folder, then uninstalled/installed my Steam version, named my data folder back, and ran MSFS. MSFS now works fine.

The tools I use to play with fs development appear to all be working as well.

What are your experiences concerning MSFS and your development process?

Hi,

Thinking about upgrading to Win 11 myself, but a little concerned as to 3ds Max functionality (particularly as I have had some issues in the past and AFAIK Max 2019 is still the recommended version).

Which version of Max are you running, and have you encountered any issues to date?

I asked over on the official forums, but didn't get much of a response, unfortunately.

Thanks,

Robert

Ah, thanks all the same.

Looks like the only way I'll find out about Max at this rate is just to try it and see...

EDIT: Opened a new thread in the 3ds Max section... One last try.

I decided to wait with the Windows 11 update and first hear some experiences. Also I'm satisfied with Windows 10 at the moment.

W11 seems to be about new chimes, new fonts and making the start menu, or whatever it's new name is, not work in my second monitor. Chrome seems to start a little quicker, maybe.

Good call, I miss the old chimes and alert sounds and I can't understate enough, that is all I notice. That and the fact "Snipping Tool" became part of Photos, or Paint, or something.

Are you using 3ds Max on Win 11, and if so which version and how's your experience with it?

Thanks.

I'll wait, have sufficient issues with the "MSFS Forced Updates" to go and tackle with this, I'll stand by until the very end.

No issues with neither Blender, MCX, GIMP, or any other tools at this point - but tomorrow there is a new day and trouble might arise...
