• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Should we all just continue in MSFS own forum

Now as MSFS own forum is very active, should we all move over there?

I do not see any good reasons for having development and SDK related issues on several places.

As many new users and a whole new generation of users are now coming to. MSFS, I believe it will be better with only one site for SDK and development issues.

When Arno gets back from vacation we will look at the forum structure for FS2020. We wanted to wait for a week or so to see what happens :)

Why would we want all content and discussion of MSFS development solely under Microsoft's 'supervision'? If that had happened to previous flightsims, there would be no 3rd party development as we know it.

Based on the number of new registrations which are running at five times the usual rate it seems that they are heading this way ;) I have 32 this morning which is a record.

I think it would be a sad community if there was only one place for each sim type or area of interest. Of course this is a free community so everyone is entitled to go where they choose for information and help.

The traffic in this forum is high so, as I say above, we will look at how best to organize things going forward

Even if only for the design, I like this forum better. MSFS2020 is more like a reddit to me.

Let me just add that I find it a really strange proposition in the first place. You come to this forum to tell people to go somewhere else?

Well some of us might encourage the folks on the MSFS forum as to the merits of this forum ;?

At least it seems to get it's fair share of mentions

a really strange proposition
I think the actual issue is that none of us have the answers to their questions regarding the new sim. Thus their frustration. I don't think there's anything ulterior or otherwise questionable... they're just wanting answers and no one here has any... so they probably assume that the official forums will have more/better information. This whole thing is so new... most of us are still trying to figure out how to put air in the aircraft's tires... I think patience is the most required aspect.

I would create sub forums like Scenery Design, Airport Design, etc under the MSFS2020 forum.

Regards

This place has been around for years, and while I'm sure there's some very useful content on the MSFS forum, its not where I would choose to go. As we all learn here, it gets shared in a way that's more.... "friendly" and those are the sort of people I'd rather be around. Lots of excitement and eagerness is a good thing, but patience is just as important.... I should really take some of my own advice :D

I think a new FS2020 section with sub-forums for Aircraft, Scenery, Gauges etc would be really helpful. Given that this is the next gen of flight sim and all of the new procedures it would be worthy of it's own forums :).
