• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Sign Doesn't Show Up

I was able to place a sign in ADE by adding a model but it doesn't show up in FSX. There are 2 texture files for the sign - are they supposed to stay with the mdl, or do they go in a different folder?

Also, when I saved the changes in ADE, it saved it to a KERI_ADEX_TAP.ad2 file. Do I put that in my KERI scenery folder along with my current AF2_SG_KERI.BGL file? If I don't include my current BGL file I lose some of the parking lots I currently have.

Dear scnrfrq,

do you have read the manual?
ADEX compiles the file to a *.bgl.

You can open the AF2_SG_KERI.BGL with open as BGL, change it, save it withe ad2 (and this is your workfile) and compile it to KERI_ADEX_TAP.bgl to yor scenery folder. then delete (or put it it away to another place out of the sceneryfolder structure as a backup) the AF2_SG_KERI.BGL. But by opening and working with af2 files you can lose approaches and so on.

Regards

While you can place objects as mdls, I think is is easier in the long run to place them in a library(an extra step, I know), and go from there.

In that case, bgls go in a scenery folder and textures go in a texture folder. Those go in a main folder and into an active folder in FS.

If you pull "load stock data" so do select all of them include approaches except nearly airports. It won't be lose approach mode for scenery.

Stuart

PS- I don't know select "nearly airports" I'm afraid that screw it up scenery with other airports. Scuffyduck, What is that for "nearly airports" do with this?

Adding nearby airports does nothing except show in the project where other airports near the one you are working on. They are for information only and do not affect the airport you are working on - neither does it affect those airports.

If you insert MDL files into your ADE BGL file, then the BMP textures must be placed into the adjoining TEXTURE folder, next to the SCENERY folder where the ADE BGL resides.

Hope this helps,
