• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi,

Is there a way to attach an FS2020* effect to an object**? Not editing effect, but simply attach.

* Present in C:\Users\Proprio\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\fs-base-effects-legacy\effects folder
** Present in my project.

Thanks.

Hello:

Hopefully we may know more soon, pending a reply from Arno and/or rhumbaflappy on MSFS "Attachpoint" use for a 3D model cited in this thread:

It is possible, this is an experimental recreation of an experimental scramjet. The linked video is advanced to the section on attaching one's created effect.

Hi JP,

Yes but with some limitations and some pre-requisted.

For an aircraft, you can add an empty/dummy in your blender file, that you name : FX_ATTACH or FX_EXHAUST_L_UP for example.
In the aircraft.cfg, you can "attach" the effect with:

[EFFECTS]
wake = fx_wake
water = fx_spray
dirt = fx_tchdrt
concrete = fx_sparks
touchdown = fx_tchdwn_s, 1

effect.0 =FX_EXHAUST_L_UP#(A:GENERAL ENG COMBUSTION:1, bool)#FX_ASOBO_HEAT_SMALL
effect.1 =FX_EXHAUST_L_DOWN#(A:GENERAL ENG COMBUSTION:1, bool)#FX_ASOBO_HEAT_SMALL
effect.2 =FX_EXHAUST_R_UP#(A:GENERAL ENG COMBUSTION:1, bool)#FX_ASOBO_HEAT_SMALL
effect.3 =FX_EXHAUST_R_DOWN#(A:GENERAL ENG COMBUSTION:1, bool)#FX_ASOBO_HEAT_SMALL
where (A:GENERAL ENG COMBUSTION:1, bool) is a <Code> condition to display the effect (if the result of the code is 1 or true).

If you define a SimObject, I think that it will be possible but I don't say how.

For a simple object/a hangar, you shoud develop a specific effect whith the integrated tool: Visual Effect Edititor and add to you Blender model an empty/dummy ...
I give others explanations in this post: https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/smoke-in-msfs.451230/#post-890022

For more examples, you can see this addon: https://fr.flightsim.to/file/16674/we-love-vfr-region-2
