• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Stream your own 3D world data into MSFS?

Hello Flightsimmer, tinkerer, hobbyist and developer.

For a project that I am aiming for, I would need some information beforehand regarding the feasibility of my venture.

So let's assume I have 3D models of entire cities, entire regions, and various airports.
And let's further assume I wanted to distribute these as packages in the in-game store of MSFS 2020/2024, or via other channels.
For someone who is interested in several cities, landscapes and airports, that would be a significant amount of data for which they would have to make storage available on their computer.
My installation for MSFS 2020 is already over 300 GB in size and if I wanted to add cities from all over Germany, then what would we be? Someday at a terabyte?
That's why my question is whether it would be possible to stream your own 3D world data into the MSFS, in whatever way, just like the MSFS itself does.
So let's assume that my cities, landscapes and airports would be provided on a server, like MSFS, and I would now fly over Munich, for example, would there be a way to use a bypass or something like that, my 3D world data to stream to MSFS instead of Microsoft/Asobo?

Furthermore, I would be looking for German developers, for a more direct exchange via Discord, for example, who deal with photogrammetry, LIDAR scans of terrestrial scanners, UAVs and vehicles, processing the 3D point clouds and converting them into a textured 3D mesh and with the provision for the MSFS in order to exchange information about other problems and solutions of my company and possible cooperation.

I would be very happy if some of you would respond here with your expertise and interest in this topic.
I would really be very grateful to you.
