• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I have closed the thread for 2011 and it is very large! :eek:

However if you have any suggestions for improving ADE please post them here :)

Hello Jon,

it is possible to become the _Ter.bgl in _Ter.xml at the compile procedure, like the other xml.

Maybe two Colours for the Guidelines.
Pink on Light Green is Andy Warhole Style. :)

Sandra

I am not sure I understand your first point.

On the second you can change the color of guidelines now.

Select a guideline. Hit Enter. In the property dialog click the Color box. Select your new color from the palette. Click OK in the palette. Click OK in the property dialog and your guideline color is changed.

Thanks Jon for the fast reply.

I´m really :confused: did you remove the xxxxxxxxx_TER.bgl

Look here
- I have wrote this question later.

And I beg your Pardon - the damish thing with the guidelines.
Your guidelines okay - I have your ADE mixed up with AFCAD.

I answered the question on TER.

No problem with the guidelines :)

I haven't looked through the other thread as it's massive, so forgive me if they've already been requested or are part of the ProKey (which I will be getting later).

-Show approach light configurations in airport mode
-Be able to draw taxi lines without the normal apron (i.e. draw lines on an already existing apron)
-Show blast fence orientation
-Show all threshold markers on the runways
-Ability to mass-edit all taxiways (change lines, sizes, lights, etc. for all)
-Show how tents and hangars look in FS (which way the hangar opens, tent is oriented, etc. This was an issue for me when I was working on that custom airport.)
-Place outlines of aircraft to check jetways and clearances
-Remove breaks when you get rid of a hold short or ILS point (taxiways re-connect automatically)
-Ability to mass-remove taxi signs
-Ability to preview how taxi signs will appear
-Ability to mass-remove edge lights
-Night mode of the airport to display all lights
-Ability to make single taxi lines (no automatic connection)

-Show approach light configurations in airport mode. We are working on a 'Night mode' that will show approach lights.

-Be able to draw taxi lines without the normal apron (i.e. draw lines on an already existing apron) I am not sure I understand this. PATH type links do not display any surface and are used over existing aprons

-Show blast fence orientation I will look at this

-Show all threshold markers on the runways We have it on the list to improve the representation of runway markings

-Ability to mass-edit all taxiways (change lines, sizes, lights, etc. for all) Multi edit already exists for taxiways. But perhaps you are referring to something else

-Show how tents and hangars look in FS (which way the hangar opens, tent is oriented, etc. This was an issue for me when I was working on that custom airport.) You can already do this to some extent via the Library Object Manager. You can set which face is the front as far as you are concerned. The front face is shown in ADE with a black spot. If this is not right then you can use the Facing property to change it. You only need to do this once for any object that is not oriented as you wish. Or did you have something else in mind?

-Place outlines of aircraft to check jetways and clearances Do you mean as a graphic?

-Remove breaks when you get rid of a hold short or ILS point (taxiways re-connect automatically) I will look at that

-Ability to mass-remove taxi signs The quickest way to do that is List > Taxi Signs. Click Select All and then Delete.

-Ability to preview how taxi signs will appear. The tooltip shows that. Also shown in the List View when a sign is selected.

-Ability to mass-remove edge lights. Shift Select to select the ones to go and use the delete key?

-Night mode of the airport to display all lights In progress

-Ability to make single taxi lines (no automatic connection) I don't understand this. It is easy enough to draw unconnected taxi links so I guess you mean something else

It would be very cool if you could make photoreal backgrounds with ADE9x,
like: inserting image, making some polygons for choosing the wanted photorea area, compile, done!

Only a suggestion, maybe impossible, but a suggestion :D

Well it is possible but at the moment not high on our list. SBuilderX can do this very well ;)

Show approach light configurations in airport mode. We are working on a 'Night mode' that will show approach lights.

-Be able to draw taxi lines without the normal apron (i.e. draw lines on an already existing apron) I am not sure I understand this. PATH type links do not display any surface and are used over existing aprons Drawing a taxi line without it creating an associated apron.

-Show blast fence orientation I will look at this

-Show all threshold markers on the runways We have it on the list to improve the representation of runway markings

-Ability to mass-edit all taxiways (change lines, sizes, lights, etc. for all) Multi edit already exists for taxiways. But perhaps you are referring to something else An option like where you could check "edit all" and then when you made a change, it would apply it to all taxiways. For example, I want to resize all links, so I open the properties of one, check "edit all" and every taxiway is resized, or I can turn off taxi lights, etc.

I'll check out that property. I did use that black dot, but on the hangars, it regarded a side as the front.

-Place outlines of aircraft to check jetways and clearances Do you mean as a graphic? A graphic could work, but I was just thinking of something that shows the size of an aircraft so that clearances can be checked.

-Remove breaks when you get rid of a hold short or ILS point (taxiways re-connect automatically) I will look at that

-Ability to mass-remove taxi signs The quickest way to do that is List > Taxi Signs. Click Select All and then Delete. Didn't know this. Thanks.

-Ability to preview how taxi signs will appear. The tooltip shows that. Also shown in the List View when a sign is selected. I meant the total sign itself, how it appears in FSX.

-Ability to mass-remove edge lights. Shift Select to select the ones to go and use the delete key? Mass-delete option for all of the edge lights in an airport.

-Night mode of the airport to display all lights In progress

-Ability to make single taxi lines (no automatic connection) I don't understand this. It is easy enough to draw unconnected taxi links so I guess you mean something else I meant a taxi line that you could draw without it automatically connecting to other taxi lines. This is primarily where there's a complex intersection and ADE keeps connecting taxi lines even if they're not at the RW airport.

One more thing - increasing the hold short distance so I can move it back to better reflect RW positions. Not sure if this can be done though as I suspect it's a limitation of FSX.

-Be able to draw taxi lines without the normal apron (i.e. draw lines on an already existing apron) I am not sure I understand this. PATH type links do not display any surface and are used over existing aprons Drawing a taxi line without it creating an associated apron.

I am still stuck with this one. Taxiways can be drawn anywhere and do not need to be on an apron. If you mean drawing one without a surface then use the PATH type. This creates the link and any markings but does not create a surface. In FSX there is a bug that can cause problems for links over aprons in that the wrong surface can draw. ADE has a feature that automatically assigns the surface of a link on an apron to the surface of the apron to avoid that. If this is not what you want then there is a user option to turn it off.

List > Taxi Links. Click Select All. Click Edit. Make your changes and save. Or if you just want some then select the ones you want with the Shift Key or Ctrl Key in the List or the Shift Key in the display and edit from there.

-Show how tents and hangars look in FS (which way the hangar opens, tent is oriented, etc. This was an issue for me when I was working on that custom airport.) I'll check out that property. I did use that black dot, but on the hangars, it regarded a side as the front.

OK if you see the dot on the side and this is wrong you use the Facing property that is a value between 0 and 360 in 90deg steps. This moves the spot around the surface. Once you have it on the correct surface then that will always be remembered and the dot will appear in the display on the surface you know to be the front.

-Ability to preview how taxi signs will appear. The tooltip shows that. Also shown in the List View when a sign is selected. I meant the total sign itself, how it appears in FSX.

How does that differ from what the tooltip shows please?

-Ability to mass-remove edge lights. Shift Select to select the ones to go and use the delete key? Mass-delete option for all of the edge lights in an airport.

OK

-Ability to make single taxi lines (no automatic connection) I don't understand this. It is easy enough to draw unconnected taxi links so I guess you mean something else I meant a taxi line that you could draw without it automatically connecting to other taxi lines. This is primarily where there's a complex intersection and ADE keeps connecting taxi lines even if they're not at the RW airport.

I am really sorry but I am still struggling with this. It is possible to draw an unconnected link anywhere you like. If you are close to another link just make sure that it is not highlighted otherwise ADE will join to it. If that is a real problem then you can create an unconnected link into an open space and drag it into place. ADE tries to replicate the way FS draws things. FS does not always get it right either and very complex junctions might be a problem for both.

One more thing - increasing the hold short distance so I can move it back to better reflect RW positions. Not sure if this can be done though as I suspect it's a limitation of FSX.

Well you can place a hold short anywhere but it may not work if it is too far from the runway it serves. This is aFSX limitation

-Be able to draw taxi lines without the normal apron (i.e. draw lines on an already existing apron) I am not sure I understand this. PATH type links do not display any surface and are used over existing aprons Drawing a taxi line without it creating an associated apron.

ADE has a feature that automatically assigns the surface of a link on an apron to the surface of the apron to avoid that. If this is not what you want then there is a user option to turn it off.

What I meant was drawing a link, but no surface is assigned to it. Thus you could draw on a white space and avoid the automatic surface.

-Ability to mass-edit all taxiways (change lines, sizes, lights, etc. for all) Multi edit already exists for taxiways. But perhaps you are referring to something else An option like where you could check "edit all" and then when you made a change, it would apply it to all taxiways. List > Taxi Links. Click Select All. Click Edit. Make your changes and save. Or if you just want some then select the ones you want with the Shift Key or Ctrl Key in the List or the Shift Key in the display and edit from there.

That list feature is going to turn into my favorite.

-Ability to preview how taxi signs will appear. The tooltip shows that. Also shown in the List View when a sign is selected. I meant the total sign itself, how it appears in FSX.

How does that differ from what the tooltip shows please?

I can't figure out how to effectively put down what's in my head, so it's best to forget this.

-Ability to make single taxi lines (no automatic connection) I don't understand this. It is easy enough to draw unconnected taxi links so I guess you mean something else I meant a taxi line that you could draw without it automatically connecting to other taxi lines. Something like this where the outside lines could be avoided and you only have the ones that are in the middle.

I know what Max means.

And yes - sometimes I thing the same.

Some Taxi Center Lines looks crazy.

What I meant was drawing a link, but no surface is assigned to it. Thus you could draw on a white space and avoid the automatic surface.

Use the link tool with the small A on it. This creates a link of type PATH that has no surface. The lines and lights will be created but no surface.

Something like this where the outside lines could be avoided and you only have the ones that are in the middle.

Is this just the problem in ADE or in FSX? I think the issue will be in FSX also and there is not much we can do about it. Perhaps one of the folks who is a better designer than me can offer a way to control lines better.

Jon,

can we have a Menu Translation.

I mean a txt file where i can use different languages.

I click on a button and I can select the language.

Then I have a german menu or a greek menu or a Netherlands menu and so on.

And some of the User can make a different language.txt file.

Everybody they like his own language can download this txt file.

It is only a suggestion - not more. :)

They show like this:

Hi Sandra

Yes we can do that. What I would need is translations so that we can put them in the program. I will add that to the list for sure :)

Than we need a list what we must Translate.

Or like you a doc File like this:

File = Datei
Edit = Bearbeiten
Lock = Sperren
Unlock = Entsperren
Lists = Auflisten
Tools = Werkzeuge
Settings = Einstellungen
Help = Hilfe

and so on

Standards will stay e.g.

Taxiway will stay as Taxiway
Flatten will stay as Flatten
Exclude will stay as Exclude

because this Names are Standards

Sandra

I will make a list of what needs to be translated. The menus are quite easy but we would also need to look at the messages and dialog names and so on - that is a lot :o

A simple way of importing MCX .mdl files into ADE for placement. An export facility from MCX would be ideal.

Perhaps I have missed something obvious.....

To use mdl files directly in an airport project use Lists > Models and click the Add button.

To place them Right Click > Add > Model. This menu item is not available if there are no models added via the list.
