• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Suggestions for Future Version 2012

Jon - you know that - I have this write in the other Thread,
but now a suggestion.

My last installation Folder was named:Ade_150

And the new Folder Name is Airport Design Editor 9x - thats okay.

And now the little thing.

I want to open my last .ad2 Projekt
and then came the error message:

Found no Photo_0001.jpg
and so on

The Program has not found the jpg´s - it is full clear, when the Install Folder has the wrong name, but this is not the Program Error. This is a User Fault.

I must close the Program - rename the Install Folder to Ade_150
and my Projekt File run very well.

And now my question:

Can you made a little Change in that Error Window if that error comes.

ADE can not find xxxxxxxxx,
will you search that by your own.

Yes No

If Yes than open an new explorer Window and we can search the file or something else by hand.

Hi Sandra

Yes we are aware of that and I do have it on the list. :) Your suggestion is a better way than I had so I will use it

Thanks a bunch, yet again, scruffyduck. As I thought I missed something obvious :o

To think that I could have saved myself all that fiddling around with other less user-friendly object placement programs. Only thing that I wondered about when I dragged the object around for placement was a label 'Not Available'. I guess it meant no photo.

Thanks for ADE9X and all the updates, documentation and outstanding back up on these boards.

Correct - just means ADE cannot find a thumbnail

I dont post on this forum much but always have a good look around :) As i use ADE alot i thought i would also chip in some features that i have needed but are unavailable (as far as im aware!) Thanks!

*Ability to add custom polygons, not for sat images, just small ones that you could lay a bmp on for parking spaces and custom ground markings.

*Ability to add custom lights, so i can choose a specific colour and place them just like i would a normal object.

*A clone tool, or a object spacing tool to make the tedious task of lets say adding 3d taxiway lights less of a daunting task!

*Ability for when you draw a taxiway, you can specify it to draw a shouler of x width, and have it include yellow lines, maybe like this

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b1/Taxiway_8255.JPG

*Added custom markings, specifically the enhanced centerline option

These may be unacheivable features, but to me they are really important in creating up to date airports :)

The current method is to use library objects.

ADE already has copy/paste

I think that is not likely with the XML code that ADE uses from the SDK. For this it probably means using GMax

Good morning from Europe,
I am using ADE a lot every single day. I am still in the phase to determine to make it my proffessional tool and then pay for the usage.
In my personal oppinion there are some back drops from previous releases that make it nearly a no go.
These are:
- If you do not have an airport open, all the list and tool menue items are not selectable. I do not care about the list menu, but to disable the tools makes no sence at all to me. This is a no go to buy the tool as a production development tool. I want to use the library Object Manager without any needs to open an airport, and so on!
-Why is the ability to open stock approach items in edit mode cut in the FSX version? Never would have found the problems with DAAD that way.

I will look at that.

I am not sure what you mean - can you please be more specific?

Add Image

Hello Jon,

for the future i like to have the Option, when i Add an Image, i can use a txt file like Rhumbaflappy txt File.

Fact:

When I use Rhumbaflappys Gmap i can make a txt File - in this is that:

[GEOGRAPHIC]
Name=Photo_0001
North=51.32916362611843
South=51.29697379133366
West=11.309223175048828
East=11.377887725830078

The Photo_0001 is a bmp that create Gmap.
The Name of the bmp i can give on my own way, but it must be a bmp and the name of the bmp must be equal in the txt file and the name of the bmp and the txt file must equal too.

Now the bmp and the txt File i can use in SBuilder - I get the bmp in a Explorer Window and the txt gives the Coordinates automatical. I dont must calibrate.

In ADE I add the jpg and use Enter Corner Coordinates, than I copy/paste it from the txt file - wait a litlle bit and voilá the Image is in ADE.

Can you do this, that we can use a jpg and a txt file, like in SBuilder. This will make more comfortable for us.

Thank you Jon.

Changing any property of a VOR, Waypoint or NDB is an advance technique in ADE9X which requires the Prokey.

If someone changes some of the property data or moves a VOR, Waypoint or NDB they must understand the consequences that will corrupt the Route Structure and cause FS to CTD.

A way to create perfectly straight taxiways either using a bearing or something. And perhaps snap to.

I am new at this but I am struggling at getting taxiways perfectly straight and I am a perfectionist. I keep quiting on my airport becaue of this.

Either a way to orientate say many taxiways together. hard to explain I guess.

Not sure if I'm reading you correctly?
I use a guide line the full length of my taxiways to set the heading,
placing the two furthest end nodes you want to straighten (zoom in) onto the guide, then hold down Shift and highlight all of the links between the two end nodes by selecting them,
right click/Straighten links,
or you could simply select all (Shift) the links and right click/straighten
you may have to move the guide to select them all
or are you asking for something different?

Would it be possible to specify the Pushback attribute on parking spots? GSX uses that data, and the default "NONE" disables p/b on that spot with the GSX tug.

I am not sure that the pushback property is honored by FS so ADE does not make it available. However it seems that this other program does use it - do I understand you correctly?

There is a way to edit this property with ADE but you would need the ProKey. ProKey is a paid for part of ADE that gives access to some extra functions including direct editing of properties bypassing any 'controls'. I do note that stock airport have the property set to BOTH but ADE sets it to NONE. If BOTH works then we could change the default in the code.

Hi Jon;

I believe you are correct in that it's an orphaned property unused by FSX, but it is still part of the data structure defined in the MS SDK. The just-released GSX utility uses the property's value to perform a pushback with a tug object...so the need is there now to be able to set all of the defined values "NONE", "LEFT", "RIGHT", and "BOTH" to the pushBack property. Can ADE with the Prokey do all that?

I don't know that setting "BOTH" is a better generic option than "NONE"

Cheers

ADE with the ProKey can edit the pushback to any listed value. If necessary we can re-instate the property in the main ADE property dialog.

Confirm & Cancel buttons almost invisible in Chinese OS.
I've showed you this problem by email. Hope you remember it.

Thank you.
