• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Taxiway to Runway junction

When a taxiway enters a runway, two curved centerlines would be expected (each heading to a runway end).
Nevertheless, I get what is in the picture (only one curved centerline). Tried to nudge the nodes a bit, but did not work.
Note: there is a runway center link (black) going through the whole runway.

How can I bring in both curves?
Is there any way to control if one or two curved centerlines will appear (in this particular case of taxiway-runway)?

Please let me know the destination (ICAO code) and I' ll show you!

Nothing :) !

Just take a look at the attached bgl. But even that (at both ends of the RWY) would do:

I am stunned!
I cannot try this right now, but I will certainly come back.

In the mean time, what this has to do with the curves at the taxiway intersection?:scratchch

You will see the desired curves, you will see fillets (which very likey were drawn only at one side of the TWY) and AI will follow the paths!

Ok, it works.
Thanks a lot, I had wasted 2-3 hrs on this.

Is there any controlled way to suppress one of the two curves?
Is there a way to make really rounded curves (and not connected straight lines)?
NOTE:The price to pay when you know the answer is more questions.

You' re welcome!

For that question you will find an answer in the 'Adding Realism to Airports Tutorial' (see the link above within robystar' s post).

Accept them as they are or move forward to photoreal textures.

As I replied already to robystar, I had been through this material. I am sorry if I appeared as shooting questions in the forum, without prior study of the publicly available info, but sincerely this is not the case.

I managed to use correctly the guidelines in the tutorial for taxiways, but I had no success at the specific case of the intersections of taxiways with runways. Probably I do something wrong, but I'll try again with the methods described in the tutorial.
For the moment, I happily accept the benefits of your method.

No problem :) !

Try to use 'Closed Taxipaths':

Just as an example - this one I drew with 4 'Taxi Points' (red arrows). These are neither linked to the 'Taxipath Runway' (black line) nor to the 'Taxipath Taxi' (blue line).
The 'Center Line' is checked of course!

On the other hand I unchecked the 'Center Line' for both segments of TWY 'A' (one segment is selected, thus it appears orange instead of blue).

The result in the sim looks like this:

Speaking about beers, why not try a 'Duvel' and then make those taxilines? You will always have double lines:).

Perhaps that is what I need to do: create a helper tool based on beer!

@ robystar: Duvel is a good choice too!

@ Jon: When I' ll come to get my 'slice of coffee' I' ll bring some beer - promised :) !

You have two choices now for perfectly curved lines - photoscenery, for large areas, and ground polygons, which can be textured using bitmaps of lines with perfect curves.

You can also use GP lines, but those too are made up of segments of straight lines. The vertices can be placed quite close together, however, and appear to be smooth lines.
