• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Textures can't be seen

Hello,

So this is the first scenery I've ever created, so I'm a complete Newbie. But now I've got a problem, that I can't solve.. I don't know, maybe it's just a false setting, or I've been sorting the things wrong. I would appreciate any help from you all, thanks :D

Hello...

Can you describe which textures your referring to? Can you explain what the textures are (your title states that they can't be seen)? More details would help.

Looking at the picture... it appears the textures are not in the right format, maybe?

In the picture I see an untextured building and one with a funny corrupt looking texture. So which one are you talking about?

Also which tools did you use to make the objects and in what format have you saved the textures?

for sure I've seen this before in my own sceneries when starting with fsx developing, problably a texture format problem

Hello,

thanks for your fast replies. I'm referring to the blue textures and that corrupted texture. I could solve the corrupted texture (It was a .png file, I'm dumb..) but the others are just in the blue FSX - Texture (They're .dds files). I did the modelling with Blender and exported the files (.dae format) into ModelConverX. Maybe It's wrong formatting, or I put the textures in the wrong directory.

Thanks for your effort :D

When you create DDS files, they need to be flipped vertically before being used in FS. Did you do that? If you converted them in MCX I believe it does that automatically?

Hey,

I did it in MCX, but I don't know.. It looks like there isn't even a Texture on there.

Thanks :D

Did you put all textures in the texture folder that belongs to your scenery folder?

Thanks for your replies,

Yeah, but I think, because I need administrator rights, I can't export the scenery right into my Addon Scenery Folder. (I don't know..) and I need to move those things to the folder, so could it be, the .bgl file can't find them anymore in the old folder? (I mean, if I install other addon scenery this problem isn't existing..)

I'm putting the folder here. Maybe you could find something there :D

The file is for the German Airport Suhl Goldlauter (EDQS)

Edit : (I realised one file is .png, but I think, that doesn't solve the problem..)

This is a very simple mistake. It is common for people to assume that once they have made a texture conversion, that that procedure is complete. Anything done within the MCX interface stays within the MCX interface, unless one actually compiles these changes into a new model object.
I selected your control tower model as an example. Here is the model viewed in the MCX interface exactly as you've uploaded it. Please note the .png suffix for the texture assigned.

At this point you are almost done. In this next image, I have applied the correction for you. Please note how your textures render to the model as you'd expect. I have done this by clicking on your assigned texture and then navigating to the .dds texture you uploaded. Before I could use this model, I would have to compile it with the corrected texture assignment. Following this same procedure for all the models will allow them to render as expected in the sim.

Hello, thanks for your reply,

unfortunately I couldn't do it right. I can't see the textures in MCX. What did I wrong?

Thanks

I don't know what you did wrong, it works for me. You might try removing the special characters from the file name.
