• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi,

I'm on P3D, and I think I will develop on this platform. Maybe I can extend on FSX and FS2004, but I don't know the differencies and what to care about... But I'm sure it's not going to be on X-plane. I don't have the sim, and don't know anything about it.

Hi Eiden.

Why not start your own thread in the showroom? We can follow your progress and offer help in it's unique postings.

I am working on PHJH Kapalua-West Maui and CYWG Winnipeg (with a partner), both for FS9. Understandably, haven't seen many FS9 projects reported here so I thought I'd let those FS9ers still out there know what I have been doing since I finished CYQR. Not enough progress yet for a showroom thread but, in the meantime, here are a couple screen shots from CYWG.

Yesss!!! Awesome News!
Very Cool, that you're still working for us FS9 Backwarded people... I love it allready!
As I've allready done Beta Testing on CYQR, I'd really love to do the same for your upcoming Work...

So, If you like to, please contact me, for another FS9 Beta - Testing Season, when the Scenery neares completion.

Sincerely,
Airbasil

Love it..any images of new terminal

I'm not working on that part of the airport so I can't show you the terminal. So far my contribution to the project is the FBO hangars located at the site of the old wartime RCAF station on the south side and the hangars and buildings of the current RCAF 17 Wing located on the west side of the airport. This project is moving slowly so for now I just wanted to let FS9ers know that there are still some of us out there working on airports. Basil, thanks for the kind offer. When we are further along I will report back.

Thats a bummer you wont look at cywg for p3d. I would pay a hefty price for it.

I'm not a commercial developer. This is a hobby for me, so I make scenery for the sim platform that I use, which is FS9, and for the airports that I want to frequent. I enjoy sharing with those who still prefer FS9. One day I might move on and then I will make scenery for whatever that happens to be (it probably will be P3D.) I hope you understand. I really appreciate your vote of confidence in my work so thanks for that. As for P3D and CYWG, I think Simaddons does Winnipeg so maybe that is an option for you?

Cheers,
Greg

Hello everyone, Here you can see 3 screenshots of my very first Blender project i'm currently working on - creating my own beloved F16 Falcon for FSX.
F16_1_solid_mode_view_zpsx2drbyhf.jpg

1 - F16 fuselage and cockpit in Solid mode view

F16_2_material_mode_view_zps31ixhf9k.jpg

2 - F16 fuselage and cockpit in Materials mode view (including a rigging panel for all moving external parts)

F16_3_rendered_mode_view_zpszu2fj9el.jpg

3 - F16 fuselage and cockpit in (cycles) Rendered mode view.

HOW DID I ACHIEVE THIS RESULT SO FAR?:
1 - I started with Krispy1001's awesome videos from his Youtube channel (thanks Kris for inspiring and enabling me to do this) but along the way I got lost due to my personal lack of Basic Blender knowledge and Blender experience.

2 - I got "back to Blander basics" and followed a few courses on www.cgcookie.com (and other Youtube channels)
The Blender Introduction and Modeling courses - by Jonathan Jonathan Williamson
- https://cgcookie.com/flow/introduction-to-blender/
- https://cgcookie.com/flow/modeling-in-blender/

A few "Mechanical rigging" - by Chris Kuhn
- https://cgcookie.com/course/mechanical-rigging-of-a-fighter-jet-in-blender/
- https://cgcookie.com/tutorial/rigging-jet-engine-nozzles-in-blender/

3 - Gophered the Internet for a very good F16 blueprints, crossections and cut-away-drawings:
- http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints-depot/modernplanes/general-dynamics/f-16-3.png
- http://www.iairforce.com/sites/webfiles/aircraft/F-16/F16-Cutaway-007g-F-16C-BLOCK50-52.jpg
and as many "F16-walk-around" websites" as I could find.... and got started

4 - Currently the F16-modeling-phase has been halted and now i'm studying:
- The FSX Modeling SDK
- Blender "internals" (how does Blender really work under the hood, data-storage-models, pyhton interface)
- Python programming and the Blender Python API
to be able fully 100% understand (and perhaps program) the Blender2FSX toolkit and read its source-codes.

NOTE: The (external) F16 model is not perfect (yet) but - for me - it is workable one, that helps me to get me through the entire "Blender modeling pipeline/flow" from tree_view image -> Blender -> Blender2fsx-scripts -> MToMDL.exe -> FSX flyable aircraft. Later when I have successfully completed this first-stage pass I will add more detail to the exterior model and 3D cockpit.

Since the backup HSI is analog and the HUD is narrow and the inlet is large, I assume this will be a block 40 "C" model.

So will thise be an F-16C or will it represent the AM version?

@F747fly & Heretic: Thanks gentlemen for the questions and your attention to details. Actually I have not though about which exact F16 version I want to create.
That is why I have not added external version-specific details to it, although I have uses this image (see link below) of an F16-C to shape the cockpit.

I first want to be able to complete the entire process from real-world blueprint to flyable-FSX-model (since it is my first ever 3D model in Blender)
Once I got this process under my belt, and truly have conquered every hurdle along that path, I can create every F16 version I want later.

I can create every F16 version I want later.

That's really ambitious, considering that the differences are mostly fairly subtle and numerous that there's an entire book on the matter (Jake Melampy "The Modern Viper Guide").

Anyway, your model is looking good so far.

Sounds very cool! I'm definitely gonna keep an eye on your project then. I noticed the analog HSI but the wording "my own beloved F16" in combination with Ronald's avatar confused me for a second I think.... I really like the F-16 so I'm in favour of it :)

Your work is fantastic so eventhough i wont be able to use this i will follow with interest. Simaddons offers a very very dumned down rendition of cywg with a lot of buildings missing. I have all of his stuff anyway to fill the void but it doesnt help either when he recycles a lot of his objects and textures. Keep up the great work on this project.

Hello to you all, newbie here.
Happy New Year
I'm in a development of my Northrop F-15 Reporter. I've surfing around and find no other dev developing this aircraft.
So, next time maybe i'll create my own thread, but a couple pic will tell you my progress so far.
Also, this aircraft is hard to dig about it's info/ references/ tecnical cause i create her via inventor. Hope someone can share
precious info about this aircraft
