There is a lot to do on the Port of Hamburg scenery. In the last few years since the first release of the scenery in 2021, the harbor has changed a lot. Many of the buildings in “Hafencity” have now been completed. The construction of the “Elbtower”, which was once so ambitiously started, came to a standstill due to the bankruptcy of the investor and the world's most modern coal-fired power plant, which was still in operation 10 years ago, is now history.
It is not easy for a developer working alone to keep up with all these changes. Therefore I decided to publish the changes in the harbor with intermediate updates of the scenery.
This is now V1.1 of the scenery. The centerpiece here is the former “Baakenhafen”, which is located just downstream of the Elbe bridges and has been converted into a residential area. In addition to the already completed residential buildings and those still under construction, the Hamburg “culture ship”, the “MS Stubnitz”, can also be found here.
Further downstream at the tip of Baakenhafen harbor is the “Baakenhöft” cruise terminal and the “Lighthouse Zero”, a model apartment building in the shape of a futuristic lighthouse.
If you look upstream, you can see the dormant construction site of the Elbtower right next to the Elbe bridges, and nobody knows yet what will happen to it after the investor goes bankrupt.
On the downstream side of the Elbe bridges, the two new “Elbbrücken” underground and suburban train stations have now also been added.
If we now take a short flight to the Moorburg power station, some people will probably rub their eyes in amazement. There is nothing left to see of the large power station with its impressive buildings and conveyor systems. As in reality, I have adapted the scenery accordingly and removed the power station. Instead, you can now see a large construction site on which the Hamburg hydrogen hub will be built in the coming years.
The last small change in this interim update concerns the pilot station “Seemannshöft” and the surroundings, which I had completely forgotten about in the first release of the scenery. Now everything is as it should be.
