• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Thumbnail Pack for MSFS

Not until someone creates one. This is an alpha after all ;)

Is there a Thumbnail pack for MSFS?

See:

Jon: Is there now a function via the ADE MSFS-2020 Alpha-14 build, to use the 'Library Object Manager' to import a folder of such thumbnails ? :scratchch

[EDITED]

As the OP is seeking help with use of the ADE Alpha build for MSFS-2020, I believe updated info on how to add thumbnails would be appropriate, rather than leaving the OP to try and derive his own work-flow from info on the non-MSFS-2020 version of ADE from search results such as these:

https://www.google.com/search?sourc...hUKEwiPj6vpjaHuAhXVWM0KHXL9C-kQ4dUDCAg&uact=5

If you have added library objects to an existing alpha (other than the base ones) then you would need to reload those into the Alpha 13 Library Object Manager. I am sorry if this seems a bit fiddly but it is an alpha ;)

Assuming "someone" creates a MSFS-2020 thumbnail pack, and ADE MSFS-2020 Alpha-14 works like 'legacy' versions, does this info still apply ? :scratchch

[END_EDIT]

Thanks in advance for your clarification of what the OP / others may study and/or plan to do ...to populate the ADE Alpha-14 with thumbnails. :)

There is no need for such a function. Just copy the jpegs.

There has always been a simple tool for generating thumbnails in ADE and that hasn't changed. There is a Capture New Thumbnail button in the LOM which still works

Current thumbnails will not be useful since they have different guids than the new ones. ADE does not support the use of older mdl files unless they are first converted to glTF. Pleas DO NOT start loading up big thumbnail packs - it is a waste of time

Having said that thumbnails for objects have always been a community effort where folks have created them and sent them for inclusion in the sim. As George points out all that is needed is a screen capture of the object file named with the GUID. I think you can do this sort of thing with MCX?

It is not in my plan to generate thumbnails until I have finished the base functionality

So to finish if there is any kind soul who would like to generate thumbnails for the new objects listed in the LOM then I will be very grateful and happy to include them

OK I see it has been done so the question is whether that can be used in ADE - I will check it It's a pdf so it does not work for ADE but as previously mentioned the thumbnails are separate jpg files named with the guid and name.

Without checking I think it is just the guid that is needed in the name

Many thanks for finding some time to reply, Jon; I look forward to seeing further developments for this capability of "ADE-20" LOM in the future. :)

Jon, where did you see this list?

I think the link is in one of GaryGBs earlier posts

With Dicks permission I have now added his thumbnail pack to the ADE LOM
