• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Error Messages in console when building

Thanks Jon. I must look into packaging using the external tool more. I used it for the sample aircraft in the SDK easily enough but haven't tried it for an airport.

    MSFS20 Blender2MSFS support thread

@hditano i was getting this error and the solution was to make sure you had selected the object in blender before you export it, and in the export options make sure “selected objects” are checked, as per DragoB’s guide.

Exclusion rectangle - how to use it

Have you tried an exclusion rectangle and a poly with the exclusion options set? If the building is part of the default airport, I believe the only way to get rid of it is to create a new airport and use the "To delete" options.

MSFS20 Blender to MSFS Exporter on day one?

I've been importing the OBJ file straight into Blender, saving it as a .blend and then exporting it to MSFS. I've issues with textures sometimes, but that's down to me and not the tool.

MSFS20 Scenery troubles: compiled package works on one but not on another PC [weird]

Hi Andy, I'd noticed tonight that my EGBF (EGVW) package wasn't showing up at all. Earlier I'd placed some more models into it, but when I came back to it tonight, nothing, the airport just didn't show up. I'm still trying to sus it out, but I've temporarily removed all of the models so that its...

MSFS20 Error Messages in console when building

Hi all, I know some of the tutorials suggest ignoring errors that come up in the console, but I can't help think some of them are there for a reason. In the example below, I've removed all objects so its just the airport, rectangles and polys. It seems to comiple OK, but I get a lot of these...

MSFS20 Introduction to MSFS SDK (scenery)

Ah! I noticed that on an airfield the other night too, but I can't remember which one. What you might be able to do is create 2 airports, the one with the correct ICAO (which you'll use to build your new version of the airport) and another with the wrong ICAO code, but don't make any objects for...

Exclusion rectangle - how to use it

So you'll need an exclusion rectangle, a polygon (with the exclusions checked) and you also need to select the "to delete" options for your new airport (assuming you've given it the same ICAO code)

MSFS20 Introduction to MSFS SDK (scenery)

And have you compiled the package and put it into the "community" folder?

MSFS20 Introduction to MSFS SDK (scenery)

You do know you cant edit in game airports, you have to create a new one with the same ICAO and select the delete options, this way the new one replaces the old one.

    MSFS20 Help flattening terrain

In the scenery editor, you need to click on the Project name, not the BGL name. Once you click on the project name and go back to inspector, you should see the Build button

    MSFS20 Blender2MSFS support thread

I've just sussed it. It was something you said earlier about selecting the object. I had been clicking off the object in blender before exporting it, this is what was producing the strange results. If I click on the object in object mode (after selecting all of the correct albedo textures /...

MSFS20 Introduction to MSFS SDK (scenery)

TBH I cant model for toffee and I don't understand texturing despite the best efforts of Dave Garwood, Rick Piper et al. Back in 2014 I had a go with SketchUp, and then used MCX to convert them to FSX. The textures in Sketchup were easy, point at at face, select the texture you wanted and...

MSFS20 Introduction to MSFS SDK (scenery)

@Coxie1102 Its easier with a screenshot, so hopefully this will be easier to follow. (I was on my phone earlier) Earlier in this thread I had the same issue. Select the Airport object, go to properties and expand the "To Delete" arrow.. You'll need to do an exclusion rectangle and...

    Error building project

You didn’t waste any time getting started George. I’ll look forward to that one. Did you have any joy creating the scenery within the sim using scenery editor?

MSFS20 Introduction to MSFS SDK (scenery)

Hi, you can’t Hi, you can’t edit the default airport, you create a new one in the same ICAO and select the delete options. This has the effect of hiding the default one so only your new creation shows.

Should we all just continue in MSFS own forum

This place has been around for years, and while I'm sure there's some very useful content on the MSFS forum, its not where I would choose to go. As we all learn here, it gets shared in a way that's more.... "friendly" and those are the sort of people I'd rather be around. Lots of excitement and...

    MSFS20 Blender2MSFS support thread

Welcome back to the mad house... On the xml front, the exporter generates this.... <?xml version="1.0" ?> <ModelInfo guid="{03e71caf-5a9b-48b8-ec50-7a34a6a94124}" version="1.0"/> But it should be this... <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <ModelInfo version="1.1"...

    MSFS20 Blender2MSFS support thread

Yep, I'm aware of the GUID issue, these are not related to that. If I use a file with the GUID error it won't compile at all regardless of how it was exported.
