• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

This is a peek at a feature that should be available in the next major release. Thanks to much help from Arno ADE is now able to display the actual footprint of library objects rather than a rectangle. This is EGBB with its accurately depicted terminal:

This is terrible news! No more nudge, compile, check, rotate and nudge a bit more, compile, check .......
What am I going to do with all these spare hours now?

There will be an option to turn it off Chris ;)

Sorry guys - I will refrain from kissing anybody but still would like to express that this will be a significant step forward. Many thanks to Arno and Jon!

Oh wow, that is amazing, gentlemen.I was thinking to myself the other day why we don't have these yet.Now look!:) Thank you.

OhOw, all my FS friends that are using IS and almost convinced me to use it as well, will not like this.
But I do!!!!!
Thanks Jon, thanks Arno.

PS:mischievo: Would Arno be able to convince you as well to start working on the Béziers curves?:D

Thanks all - we are working on getting this into a suitable state for a beta but it may take a little while.

Jon is quite good in breaking my code, so it might take a few more iterations for us to iron all the bugs out :)

And Roby don't start about Bézier curves, I once implemented them when I worked on the (now deprecated) gPoly tool. Lots of fun :)

Just one more taster. This is the central terminal area for Heathrow - EGLL

Looks good, Jon!

Now you just need to give the option of viewing the selected model in ModelConverterX, which is far more useful than a thumbnail (my opinion only).

Better ask Arno about that and see if he will let me use that functionality in MCX ;)

I see two options for that. Either ADE can call MCX with the path to the library and the active model (last argument I would have to add).

Or Jon could integrate the viewer component in ADE and handle the whole preview internally.
