• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ADE ADE Version 1.79.7410 Dev is released. Supports P3D v5

no. it has been deleted

OK, here is what I found on a quick search at FSDEV regarding use of P3D v6 with ADEv1.79x:

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/can-ade-be-updated-to-work-with-p3dv6.458190/post-924846

I reinstalled P3Dv6 and have tried using ADE 1.79.7475 to modify some airports.

The issues so far are:

1. ADE doesn't recognize many of the stock buildings so they don't display.
2. ADE doesn't recognize many stock objects, including taxi signs, so they don't display.
3. Upon starting, it asks for the FS version and doesn't recognize that v6 is installed.

Simply closing the dialog window allows ADE to continue loading.

That's really about the only issues I've found so far.

I was able to get a few P3Dv5 airports working by loading the stock v6 airport and deleting all the buildings and some objects to add the excludes. Then I compile the v6 airport and just place it in the same directory with the v5 file. The taxi signs and other objects for P3Dv5 airports do display in ADE, and they compile and are rendered in v6 as the new v6 types. The new taxi and runway lights are also rendered properly in v6.

If there was some way to get ADE to load the new stock buildings then that would be fantastic.

Dave

Am I going to have to install every P3D SDK from their website till I am up to P3D SDK v6?

I own / use P3Dv4.5x, but rarely use it, as it is not much different than FSX Acceleration / Gold (DVD's, with no a$$-burn by "Steam").

That said, it is likely L-M still distributes only the version you purchased, and may at best allow you to defer updates until you want them.

So, if you bought P3D v6.x, be sure it updates itself to P3D version as the forums show some desirable fixes are in that version.

Reportedly there were a few 'Hot Fixes' (aka "HF-4" etc. which did not solve some issues; so 6.1 or later is the target version to get).

And AFAIK, L-M's updater will always attempt to install only the latest "6.1x" version of updates for your purchased version (6.x ?).

So, if you have a original version 6.x, it 'may' already be the latest available; I'm not sure where to check for the version number, but you could try browsing in Windows Explorer / File Manager, find Prepar3D.exe, right-click, select Properties, go to {Details} Tab, read version #.

OOPS... I now see you were asking about the SDK; however, verifying the installed 'sim' version is also current ...is still important to do.

Regarding P3D SDK versions available to download: each numeric P3D SDK version linked by L-M is always complete and most current. :pushpin:

I just downloaded the new version of ADE Version 1.79.7410 Dev. Will it update the version of ADE that I have on my computer?

IIRC, it is intended to be a stand-alone installation, so it is unlikely to work if the install path is directed to an existing ADE version install.

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/t...s-released-supports-p3d-v5.447279/post-841138

This version is now avaiable from here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/i6xk38ghqjomykp/ade_current_dev.zip/file This is the same link as the earlier 1.79 dev.

This version has the following changes
  • Support for P3D v5
  • Removes support for P3D v2 and v3
  • Some minor bug fixed
INSTALLATION

Please do follow this information.
  • If you have an earlier version of 1.79 then please update it. Only create a new installation if this is the first time install for 1.79
  • If you are updating then it is highly recommended that you backup the existing installation. This zip contains a simple backup utility that will do this for you.
  • If you are creating a new installation please don't use the Settings Import function. Start clean
To update change the destination directory to the current 1.79 installation

View attachment 56637

If the installation does go wrong for any reason restore the previous 1.79.7401 installation and report the issue here

When you run the ADEv1.79x 'New User Wizard' as cited above:

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/t...s-released-supports-p3d-v5.447279/post-933472

...ADEv1.79x will create all the info it needs in Windows to work properly and independently.

ADE checks the registry for installed editions of FS/P3D. If there are none installed or not properly installed then the empty selector window will come up. There is a 'nuclear' option to by pass this with a setting in the global settings file. This is global.ini in the main ADE folder

Find it make a copy of it and then add the entry to show all versions

1747479221646.png

ShowAll=True in the [TARGET] sections.

Save global.ini and try a restart. The selector list will show all versions supported by ADE

I am doing this from memory so excuse me if it is not clear

i am late to the party as i my old rig gave up the ghost and i had to get a new one. this is the following error i am getting. i have followed the instructions jon gave (that said i am not sure what he means by "Make a backup of the 179_7410 installation then copy the files in the zip into the installation. This should fix the missing file issue - hopefully". so i unzipped the missing files and copied and pasted them into the folder ade made when it installed.
i am also adding the compile location (i redacted my name). i did not change anything in the set up wizard. i am not a computer person so i pretty much do not change much when installing programs. the only thing i did was in the very 1st page of the install wizard i pressed the find fs scenery path and it found it. i am using this for FS9 and it found it. I know Jon is retired so i am hoping someone can help me with this. for now i am back to using afcad until i can figure out how to get ADE working on my new machine.

Hello:

Just a wild guess that the MSXML file set needs to be re-installed because you have a new Windows installation of an older Windows version.

https://www.google.com/search?q=site:+www.fsdeveloper.com+MSXML+install&sca_esv=602bc0460517bd79&source=hp&ei=J3nyaMOcFq3F0PEPk-fVwAM&iflsig=AOw8s4IAAAAAaPKHNxaSL0G2vMv72sf3Gd5-cXzFMOs-&ved=0ahUKEwiDzKPJ3auQAxWtIjQIHZNzFTgQ4dUDCBA&uact=5&oq=site:+www.fsdeveloper.com+MSXML+install&gs_lp=Egdnd3Mtd2l6IidzaXRlOiB3d3cuZnNkZXZlbG9wZXIuY29tIE1TWE1MIGluc3RhbGwyBRAhGKABMgUQIRigATIFECEYoAEyBRAhGKsCSPCpAVAAWPyMAXAAeACQAQCYAf0BoAHjHaoBBjAuMjIuMbgBA8gBAPgBAvgBAZgCEKACohjCAgUQABjvBcICCBAAGIAEGKIEmAMAkgcGMC4xMS41oAeyPbIHBjAuMTEuNbgHohjCBwcyLTYuOS4xyAeLAQ&sclient=gws-wiz

Other file sets may also be needed on a new Windows install; I'd bet you may also need files like DirectX 9.0c after installing the FS9.1 update.

Take it a step at a time and let us know which error messages pop up; they may be clues to other (old) MS file sets needing to installed into Windows.

What version of Windows did you re-install ? :scratchch

That fixed it. thanks Gary

Micro Center is a good place for sales and/or service.

They are AFAIK, one of the few remaining full stock / full service type computer stores in the Chicago area.

If you can run Windows-11 you may have a computer that would could run MSFS 2020 / 2024 with good performance.

You are 'Way down South' in Texas, so your feet would not get cold when MSFS "KNOCKS YOUR SOCKS OFF".

they are great. and they look out for the customers interest. i had a prebuilt computer in my cart. then the rep asked me what i was looking for. looked at what i had and then went showed me what i could get for the same price if they built it. plus if they built it i would only need to upgrade that one part. the prebuilt one was proprietary so it was replace the whole machine. i got a better rig for the same price as the prebuilt. i wil not go to anywhere else but work for computer questions/repairs. the logistics company i work for has a great IT department. they can not work on personal machines but if you tell them the problem they will usually tell you the best option to fix. Kind of like what you did for me today.
