• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ADEX 1.60 Library Objects Data

Ok, so here's a screenshot. From the "Add Library Object" option, a tower. No thumbnail even though I downloaded the big thumbnail package, it placed normally in ADE as you can see, but doesn't show up in the sim.

Then this has nothing to do with the database of objects I think. If the object placement box is yellow then it means ADE knows about it and it is in the database.

When you can please:
  • In ADE go to Settings > Options > General Tab and check if the Compile Separate Airport and Object Bgl files is checked. If it is then uncheck it.
  • In FSX make sure that you have the Scenery Complexity setting to Extremely Dense
  • Please post one of the problem ADE project files by attaching it to a post here so that we can check it on our systems and see if we can replicate the problem

I've uploaded the scenery file for the airport I've been working with as well as the work file.
Thanks for your help, I seem to have hi-jacked the thread.

OK - the control tower you have there is not a stock object. It seems that you have not got the basic stock only adeObjectsList.dat installed in the ADE FSX Folder. The size of that folder is 520 kbtes, The one that contains the control tower is the one shipped in error and is almost 1.5 Mb. This is also why there isn't a thumbnail for that object. The control tower is in a library called VN_Simms_Objects.bgl

I have the 1.5 meg file too, it's backed up right now. Is that what contains the library?

It contains information about the library contents - not the library itself

Jon, thank you for all your help, forgive me for taking over this thread. You may delete any of the posts relating to my issues. :)
I managed to delete the big .dat file and replaced it with the one you posted earlier in this thread. My default objects appeared with their thumbnails and placing a default control tower in ADE rewarded me with a control tower at my airport in the sim! Thank you again.

No worries. I am glad it is working. We will leave the thread here in case it may help someone else with a similar situation

Jon.if you can upload the base data file for FSX woud be just great. I was also stunned to see such a huge library and then dissapointed to see that most of it wasn't really available, and others that I personally often used when adding ILS such as the ILS Localizer, till now, I have not been able to find at all.

are you talking about the visual object? the one in "Airport Object/Localizerantenna01" also where the "ilstransmitter" is or something else?

yes I am referring to those objects and quite a few more that are now on the incredibly populated library, but once chosen, they do no show in FSX. for instance I managed to find on the terminal list a terminal that I often used, had its thumbnail, chose it placed on the airport, whent to FSX and nill

Well,I had to give up with the new amazing library. I renamed the adeObjectlist.dat to Old, downloaded and saved the previous that I had, and all is back to nomal. However I am bit frustrated because I was not capable of working out how to get all of those libraries to work

AS per the original post - we shipped a wrong version of the database. It was never going to be practical to use it unless you had all the libraries. ADE should only ship with the stock objects in the database and that is what we try to make sure we do now. I am sorry that it has been a frustration :(

Don't worry my friend. Back to the normal version is still great. Just hope for, that in the near future everyone to be capable of using the library wrongly shipped:wave:

Well the database does not actually contain the libraries - rather it contains references to the libraries and objects in them. The Library Object Manager would tell you what library each object is in. These libraries are available on AVSIM or FlightSim (most are for FS9 by the way). So if there are objects you really want then you could identify the library and get it. We would not ship the actual libraries with ADE. Our (or my to be precise) mistake was to ship my personal database rather than the proper default one

Oh crikey i'm sooooo confused now. Could someone just tell me, very simply, if I can have the Object Library and generic buildings I had in the previous version - and if so, how please? ;-)
