Hello everyone!
As already posted in the "working on scenery" part I thought I'd go ahead and create an extra topic since I've got updates to the project.
Freeware for EDKB Bonn-Hangelar, Germany.
Bonn-Hangelar Airfield, situated in the picturesque region of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, has a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. Originally established in 1913 as a military airfield, it played a significant role during both World Wars, serving as a strategic hub for German aviation. Following World War II, the airfield underwent extensive reconstruction and was repurposed for civilian use, becoming a vital center for general aviation and flight training. Throughout its history, Bonn-Hangelar Airfield has evolved into a bustling aviation facility, fostering a vibrant community of pilots, enthusiasts, and aviation professionals. Today, it continues to serve as a key landmark in the region, offering a gateway to the skies for both recreational and commercial aviation pursuits.
Features for the project will (eventually) include:
The previous stage of the project was already quite picturesque, however there was an important part missing.
This, in turn, allowed me to "complete" the modelling stages and - due to the fact that I've spent a lot of time working on the ground details in between - meant the last build I created was the very first pre-alpha version of the scenery. There's still much to be done in terms of optimization, especially in terms of LODs and textures, but for the moment I am happy to say that I've compiled the very first complete airfield.
More updates to come!
All the best!
Florian

Features for the project will (eventually) include:
- Fully modelled airside & landisde of the civilian part of the airfield
- Fully modelled airside of the federal police apron, including animated gate entry point
- Dynamic changing of signs and other stuff by environmental factors
- Custom night lighting
- Custom animations such as windsocks etc.
- Entirely custom ground texture works
- Custom (removable) static aircraft
The previous stage of the project was already quite picturesque, however there was an important part missing.
In the meantime....
... I had the chance to gather the required information and pictures for the area of the German Federal Police, featuring some old but very prominent buildings. This progress allowed me to complete the apron for everyone desiring to fly a few police helicopters out of EDKB. (Don't worry about the windows for the tower - MSFS Glass material is not displayed correctly in my Blender version). This, in turn, allowed me to "complete" the modelling stages and - due to the fact that I've spent a lot of time working on the ground details in between - meant the last build I created was the very first pre-alpha version of the scenery.
