• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Fokker 100

Bill is probably busy buying new hair dye for his eyebrows once or twice a day.

Or he's frantically working on a time machine to go back and kill a certain George Boole.

Working on knobbies, which has dented my anti-eyebrow health regimen severely. I had to re-order my perscriptions for de-eyebrow-aluminization...

Goodness... I didnt know they were that difficult to model. I still have all the knobbies to do on the center console and overhead panel.

Also havent built the interior walls yet. One part at a time... and mapping.. build and map. build and map.

You don't suppose there would be a way to get in touch with one of the guys from DA and see about merging the projects? It would certainly save you a job on systems, plus you'll get to use their secret shared cockpit technology.

DA is not the owner of the DA Fokker anymore. It belongs to Flight1 and from what I could find online, they aren't allowing anything to be done with the Fokker. One can always try, but I don't think Bill is going to do this anyway.

I didnt know about the Flight1 Fokker. I'll check that out. I didnt know the original team got rid of theirs. When you say they are not doing anything with it, do you mean its dead and cancelled? Is it still selling or taken down?

I would love to have avionics that are already created. That would save me a ton of time.

EDIT: I found it on the Flight1 webstore. So that is the nice 2D popup panels I have seen online when doing searches for panel shots. Very nice work. Goodness.

Those PFD and MFD screens look very nice.... I wonder who did the FMC.

The Flight1 Fokker is the one developed by Digital Aviation (DA). I talked with some other developers out there and apparently it's quite common for developers to develop an airport/aircraft under their own name and sell the project to a publisher like Aerosoft or Flight1. These companies have very few in-house development teams, but rely on development groups to sell them their projects. Often, these development groups keep selling their projects to the same companies for years. Examples are SimWings or the German Airport Team, who have been developing sceneries that Aerosoft publishes for years, and never published their own work.

Back to the Fokker ;) The DA Fokker is a serious, study-level aircraft at PMDG complexity levels. It's a fantastic addon and even after many years it still holds up between the releases of today. The major downside is, again, no VC. Which is a dealbreaker for many simmers including me. I've tried it, but I couldn't get used to the 2D panels. This made me ask for a refund sadly. If you are truly dedicated to produce the best Fokker out there, I'd say give it a shot! You have a fantastic track record for producing quality aircraft. So Flight1 is probably more interested to hear this idea from you, than from some inexperienced guy who just want to give it a shot. I know for sure you'd make a huge amount of people very happy if you decide to rework the DA Fokker. Since many of them have been waiting for a VC since it released. As it was promised it would come as a future update. Even on the Aerosoft forums in the CRJ-700/900 WIP thread, (it's being developed by DA) people have been asking for a VC for the Fokker.

Interesting... Thanks for the input. Something to consider.

If you ask me, it's beyond PMDG complexity, since it has some nice extras such as the shared cockpit feature. I'm not a fan of glass, but multicrew was what sold the DA Fokker to me.

Before we attain zero visibility here, let's get our heads out of the clouds and feet back on the ground and let Bill do his job.
You people know his add-ons by now and know what to expect in terms of systems modeling, so there's no point in developing or possessing expectations that are in the realm of unreality.

(There's also no such thing as a complex aircraft from a pilot's standpoint. Only more or less emphasis on human-machine-interaction.)

Hi guys,

Just got a heads up that our government flight service registered (at least) one Fokker to be used as a replacement for the 40ish year old Yak-40s we use, which made me think of this project...

Good to see Bill that you are still in.

I see that F1/DA was discussed... I actually thought of this before. I'd be willing to donate work in merging the two products, seeing as DA Fokker used to be one of my favourite airplanes back in the day. I'd have considered buying off the rights and the code, but concluded it would most likely be too expensive for me to afford.
Either way if someone has an in - I'd be willing to donate to the effort, monetary and labor.
