• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSdeveloper is not very active recenly, is it?

I usually scan through the first few pages of the Recent Posts every so often. I don't do it every time I drop into the forums, as most of my visits are to look up info for an issue I may be running into. I try to answer as many threads as I can that have gone unanswered, but only if I know that I have something worthwhile to add.

Looking on Recent Posts now, I only see a handful of topics that are unanswered.

Excluding the guys that are on here pretty much every day, I would wager that the majority probably only visit the forums no more than once a week. Some, maybe a few times a week. My times vary. There are some times I swing by a few times a week and sometimes I may go weeks without popping in. If a lot of users are posting, a thread can get buried fast. And I say that because I have stumbled upon posts that go unanswered for months, that I could have answered, all because the post just got buried while I was offline.

So, I guess what I'm saying is, an influx of new users could make the forums seem dead (At least, in the replies department) if the right person to answer the question isn't online. However, as I stated above, the majority of posts seem to get a reply.

There is certainly more activity overall but it may be concentrated in the newer forums. For example forums related to Design with MSFS are more active than those for other older tools or sims. Overall we have more members and more activity. I register most of the new members and there is more work for me. I guess a number of new members are here for the short term and drift off again. The amount of activity for the SDK (design) on the MSFS forums is much lower than here

This is exactly what I see a lot of new August and September 2020 entry date.
At the time of the MSFS release, there was a big bang for the scenery design. We will see in time if the new ones fall in love with the designs scenery

I think my experience after launching the new Global AI Ship Traffic showed clearly the difference between sites like the flightsimulator.com forum and fsdeveloper. In the the flightsimulator forum it was very, very busy - the package got downloaded almost 3000 times in less than 12 hours from release and the discussions were nice but also very chaotic - here a few comments, but I value them a lot! Fsdeveloper is a technical site with good feedback among peers enjoying the same creative urge. It isn't necessarily all about "clicks" - it is also very much about the quality of the discussions. And fsdeveloper still has an edge in this respect, and I think in line with some of the previous comments that MSFS simply allows us to rejuvenate flightsimming getting much needed new users engaged :D

Being a flightsimmer since FS95, it was fsdeveloper and the serious/nice guys here that helped me dive into scenery design. Civil discussions, compared to many other sim forums made me stay. I stroll through "What's new" every day, and keep track of some threads for further investigation when my skills will be sufficient. Maybe I will be able to contribute myself someday, and pay back all the precious knowledge I was given here. Thanks again, and keep on going :)

Exactly... Questions and comments.
Talking about questions, may I pm you with some very specific, maritime traffic related questions? I'm trying to do something but have no idea how to get started and since you're the expert for anything moving on the water surface I'd be happy to hear your thoughts.

Of course - or take it over in the project thread.
