• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX invisible runways

Sorry Jim, It looks like a no go. I have FSX SP1,SP2, SP1A and that old runway is right there where you can see it.

Then it seems to me that Microsoft added support for it in the Accel compiler and in the Accel version of FSX. They didn't add anything for it in the compiler schema though.

So only those with acceleration will have transparent runways?
Even if it is complied with accel compiler?

Seems barely worth the effort...............................

Hi Jon, the transparent checkbox in the runway properties suddenly disappeared.
I'm sure it was there since I flagged it once and now is not there anymore !! The runway of course is not transparent any more!!
What could I've done wrong ?

For what version of FS? It will be visible for P3D v2 and for FSX only if you have the acceleration pack SDK installed

It is FSX DeLuxe 10.0.61637.0.

This morinig I was working on it and it was transparent!

I cannot understand what I did to make it disappear

Nothing - have you seen it for P3D v2? The version of FSX you have does not support transparent runways. ADE will display that option for FSX only if you have the acceleration pack SDK installed. It is only the compiler in the Acceleration Pack SDK that supports transparent runways - with SP1a or SP2 the compiler will fail on the transparent property because it does not understand it.

Interesting stuff, this morning the flag was there and it worked, in FSX the runway WAS transparent.

The only thing I did has been to remove the bglcomp.exe from the ADE installation folder since I read the the problem related to finding the blgcompiler was fixed.

So i put it back in the ADE FSX folder and the transparent flag now is back !!

I can confirm that the compiler does not complain, I have now the runway over a gp_poly and it is transparent in FSX.

BTW: thanks for this wonderful tool Jon!

It seems that you have the Acceleration compiler somehow................
