• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi

Old topic But need some help if possible. Just installed fsx se on a new windows 11 pc but for some reason after downloading GE view the files .dll and the earth Proxy are showing up as text documents.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue

Cheers

Hello:

If rpmc were here, IMHO, he would likely say: RTFM (QUICK INSTALL NOTES.pdf).

HttpX and EarthProxy (GE View) Installation
March, 2018 Update
1. Rename EarthProxy.exe.txt as EarthProxy.exe
2. Rename HttpX.dll.txt as HttpX.dll
3. Rename HttpX64.dll.txt as HttpX64.dll
4. Replace existing GE VIEW files with the new files
 HttpX64.dll. New Release. 64 bit version of HttpX.dll. Version number is v.2.2.
Please specify HttpX64.dll in the P3D v4+ (64 bit) dll.xml file. Installation is similar to the
32 bit version. Place HttpX64.dll in the Modules folder or whatever folder you choose in
the P3D directory, and make sure that dll.xml addresses that file path.
 HttpX.dll v.2.2. 32 bit version. Updated file. Functionally same as v.2.0.
 EarthProxy.exe v.1.3. Operation is identical to v.1.2, but v.1.3 reads Altitude,
Longitude and Latitude from the Compound_Rotation.xml gauge rather than reading
those variables directly from the sim as was done in v.1.2. This provides additional
flexibility to manipulate the Google Earth image as you fly. EarthProxy.exe v.1.3 is
compatible with all versions of HttpX.dll and HttpX64.dll, however it must be used
together with Compound_Rotation.xml v.3.0.
 Compound_Rotation.xml v.3.0. A new feature of Compound_Rotation v.3.0 is the
ability to toggle On/Off a Top-Down Google Earth view and to change the Eye Altitude of
that view using the mouse scroll wheel. EarthProxy v.1.3 must be used to enable this
feature.
TOP DOWN GOOGLE EARTH VIEW
Left click anywhere in the GE VIEW DISPLAY WINDOW to toggle On and click again to
toggle Off a top down Google Earth view. Use the mouse scroll wheel to adjust the eye
altitude of the image. Scrolling affects only the Google Earth view altitude, not the
aircraft altitude.

The mouse cursor must remain inside the GE VIEW DISPLAY WINDOW for the toggle and
altitude scroll to function.
When scrolled to low altitudes of less than about 3500 to 4000 ft. agl, the Google Earth
top down view may appear “jumpy”. This seems to be associated with the G.E. fly-to
function and I am not aware of a way to smooth it other than to scroll the altitude to
above approximately 3500 ft. agl.
EarthProxy.exe v.1.3+ and Compound_Rotation.xml v.3.0+ must both be used to enable
top-down view

Happy Flying ...uh, Googling ...er, Floogling.
