• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX:SE Memory error?

People,

I've been having a problem with FSX for a few years now, but I only thought about posting it today, even though I know that few people still use FSX. Using the PMDG 737NGX or Simcheck A300, in very few scenarios, during the final approach 5-3nm from the runway, I start to hear that windows error sound and AI traffic planes go black, so that the situation gets worse until it crashes completely in FSX or after landing there are several graphical deformations like parts of scenery object goes black, with others AI planes until FSX closes.

Any suggestions? This happens in practically only one scenario, with 2 others at most.

One observation is that this happens even on short flights, departing 125-220nm from the destination, since we know that long flights have this tendency in complex aircraft like the PMDG.

Thanks in advanced.

The first thing I would try would be if you have any add-ons scenery for that area that causes the crash I would turn it off in the scenery library and try the approach again.

Tom gave good advice.

Ultimate cause is FSX using a memory model limited to 2 GB. Contributing cause is FSX does not release memory when scenery and objects no longer used -- it fills up the memory until crash or sim restart. As you know, complex aircraft add-ons also take up memory.

I remember one flight past NY City I could not complete until (1) removing all add-on scenery, (2) turning off weather (cloud) add-on, and (3) deactivating AI traffic. Only add-on used was my modest add-on aircraft.

I´ll try reduce textures sizes on scenery (ground textures)... but in last flight, VAS come to 350mb free...
