• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS MSFS hangs on loading after adding airport made with SDK

Hello,

so I have made an airport using the SDK. In doing that I held on to the steps by Youtube user "Stream Gamerz" in his video "Create simple airport MSFS 2020" using the SDK sample for the simple airport. I did not delete any of the files inside the Sample folder structure. Here is what I have done:

- I made a simple water runway in the area of Soerabaja in indonesia using the steps of the above mentioned tutorial.
- When entering the Flight Simulator I can see this airport and it has a small exclamation mark inside the circle of the airport symbol (not the yellow exclamation mark).
- When choosing a runway and hitting "fly now" the simulator loads a bit and then stops, the flight simulator .exe not responding.

- After removing the package from the community folder, rebooting and loading into another airport in the area, it is fine again.
- I also tested (with this package in the community folder) loading into another airport on another part of the world, still it does not load (or only a part of the progress bar) after hitting "fly now".

Remarks:
- I let the "object test radius" at the default value of iirc 2000m. The runway length is 3000m. Also the airport might not be 2000m away from another airport in the vicinity, is this known to cause problems?
- I must emphasize that water runways/seaplane bases are my main focus at the moment so any useful information linked specifically to this kind of airport is welcome.

I have attached the zipped project and would be very grateful if someone could point my nose into the errors I have made so as to not repeat them. And if someone is interested I would be willing to offer some money for giving me a further thorough understanding of the mechanics of the SDK and of what must and what must not be done, maybe some already compiled information from experiences and comprehensive guidelines that maybe aren't as obvious and readily available in the documentation.

Your project structure Is pretty messy ( you are mixing relative and absolute Path)
I can fix In the evening if you like, no need for money,

In the meantime

I have a video with some useful information about file structure, (the only thing i did not make clear Is that you Need your output folder Path in the form "scenery/whatever" )

Attached is a zipped project. I did change the folder structure and removed files you didn't need. I did change the airport radius to 5000M.

WAPZ is close by. You could 'attach' the water runway to that airport. It's a bit more complicated.

Many thanks, I will look into that after work. As I've said, I did it like it was in the tutorial and used the Sample Folders of the SDK samples (of which the guy in the video said "it will work"). I still have to mentally get into what files and folders I really need.

Attached is an example of adding a water runway to an existing airport.

i was having the sim freeze after adding the package in the community folder, seems keeping the airport radius out to 5000 solved the problem. ( i had changed it to like 2700 or something)

So again many many thanks, I got frustrated a few times since but now I have managed to build something that actually works. That SDK "workflow" is quite a pain lol

For those who want to try out my Wake Island Seaplane Base, I attached it. I added some objects and parking docks as well instead of just the runway. However, it is not historically accurate. Also it is a star airport so it is easy to find.
