• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Multi Object Per Texture

Hi

What i'm wondering is if anyone can help me with the process of creating a single texture which has multiple objects on it and how to access them in MSFS2020

I can physically create the file, the problem i have is how to we tell the sim that it needs to access only the parts of the file for the situation.

e.g. The Macco SIm EGCC has multiple Taxistand types in 1 file and it chooses which type to add to the scenery. There are signs type (no entry, walking man etc) are line types (custom taxiway, hold shorts) etc and they are all on the same texture.
They are not just replacing the painted lines (which I can do) as thats a different process. There is what seems to be a library component i think.

I just dont know how to get the sim to pick the correct location in the texture file to display the correct texture.

Any help would be appreciated.

Note. - I do not want to create custom replacement lines

Maybe they (macco?) are using Projected Mesh?

Can you give a visual example of what you are trying to achieve?

Many developer ground markings are 3d models from the airport's modellib.

And many of them make one giant model for the entire airport's markings, or each class of marking, I guess to keep the visibility at a distance.

This is one opened up in Modelconverterx.

The airport will have to be flat as a pancake for that to work.

Or, they use a ProjectedMesh to spread their 3d object into the terrain and it will conform even without a flat terrain

However, the resolution of flat 3d object can be really High, while the ProjectedMesh (or apron/polygon) a limited to max 4cm/pixel
