• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi guys . I dont want to wait 9 minutes to see if my package is being created correctly by starting the game and trying to do from the main menu of the game. That fspackagetool supposed to work without game as I have researched. But there is no instructions or what so ever on the internet. I see people just dragging their xml files on to it after copying it to their project folder. I do that and nothing happens :( Is there a simple command which I can use to do it via the command prompt because apparently my copy did not like my computer. :(

If any of you know a way to make the game skip the intros as well that could be golden as well. Dragging fsdevelopmode.exe to gamelauncher exe did not help either ;)

I know how to skip the intros for the MS store version of the simulator (not sure how to for the Steam version though).

If you right click on your desktop, go to New->Shortcut. Enter this for the location of the shortcut:

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start shell:AppsFolder\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App "-FastLaunch"

Click next, and enter a name (it can be anything). I call it "FastLaunch." Then you can start MSFS by clicking that shortcut, and it will skip all the intro logos and go directly to the program. You can also drag the shortcut onto your taskbar.

To make the shortcut look like the MSFS one, you can right click it, select Properties, and change the icon to the .ico file contained in the .zip file I attached.

The FsPackageTool calls the compilers which are embedded in the sim. So most of the time of a build is taken up with starting a partial instance of MSFS. The package tool has no compilers built in to it.

This may be different for Steam users

Guys thanks for your answers. I was running on a lower version of the game and tbh it was a pirated version to see if I would be able to make mods and enjoy the game at the same time. Since I liked it a lot and fed up of facing problems I bought the game. And the fspackagetool works like the way I have described at the beginning which is far more convenient. I don't even have to go to the game before I finish all the objects in Blender. The errors are shown much more clear and blunt. And you see what actually is wrong with your package and it tells you how to fix it. Shortcut thing I haven't checked yet because I bought it via Steam. I will find a way for Steam version as soon as I finish my own scenery package :)
What You could do as well is reduce the graphic quality to a small size an to lowest quality in all options. This will reduce startup time. There is also an option how to build your model outside the MSFS using cmd.exe. I'll drop you the setting if you are interrested. If you have small changes that you can do directly in the xml file, you don't have to do this in MSFS. Switching on are of taxiway lights or reducing the size of this or that or changing COM data, all this can be done in the xml file.

Hello:

It would be helpful to the FS Development Community to read more about these options as sub-topics arising from this thread. ;)

I'm thinking many of use here might benefit from identifying how to optimize MSFS-2020 performance in "Developer Mode" by setting up a custom 'configuration profile' to be used when not actually flying.

Perhaps in another thread we might discuss ways to establish optimized settings that can be toggled on / off in MSFS-2020 "Developer Mode" that make use of the sim more of a manageable experience even on older computer builds ?

Perhaps via a GUI utility or CMD mode batch files, we can toggle a MSFS-2020 "Developer Mode" performance profile on / off ?

Might this be done by dynamic edits / saves of the 'active' MSFS-2020 UserCfg.OPT and ex: SimConnect and/or a custom utility ? :scratchch

I'm thinking that, although obviously we would all do well to see this new sim as THE reason for an immediate hardware upgrade, some of us here may not plan to put that into our budgets until some time later in this new year (...at the earliest). :twocents:

FYI: I am personally still in the process of fine-tuning a costly hardware upgrade which was prompted mostly by how much of a 'stuttering mess' MSFS-2020 became when in "Developer Mode", even though I was otherwise able to achieve a relatively satisfactory run time rendering performance if I was (only) flying on my prior moderately older computer build.

You do realize that referring to or using pirated versions of any software leads to an instant ban on this site. Can you give me any reason why I should not ban you right now?

I am locking this thread since it is not helpful to engage in a wider conversation on piracy. There are no good circumstances for engaging in it, taking advantage of it or promoting it. I am leaving the topic here for this time are a reminder to others that it is not acceptable and will attract a ban.
