• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Suggestions for Future Version 2012

I checked through the thread but to avoid further TL;DR posts Jon perhaps you could just re-edit the first post with a list of already-made suggestions and your response as well as the current list you have of features to be added? I can understand why you may not want to post the upcoming features list since it can get some people nagging on when an item from the list will be coming out. but still.

Anyways my suggestion that I didn't see is probably already in the works I hope, since it's just multi-edit for library objects. Since you can already multi-edit stuff like parking spots and taxi lines hopefully objects will be next?

Hi Drew

You are right and I need to find some time to rationalize it :o

Ability to lock an apron and still be able to add another vertex.

When I add another vertex to an unlocked apron sometimes the apron moves slightly so I have to undo it... kind of gets annoying after awhile.

On that note it's also a bit annoying how adding a vertex most often will change the position of the edge as well

My suggestions for version 2012 is to release it soon, or else we should talk about version 2013.

I shall be joining you soon in "Gods own country" Jon. After falling in love with a stunning Welsh woman, I am moving to Newtown, Powys

Ah congratulations Dave! :) and for those without Welsh Cymru Am Byth translates as 'Long Live Wales'

Sorry, I haven't really been looking through the ADE forum to see if it's been brought up before, but I've got a suggestion: the ability to read GeoTIFF location tags (or an associated TFW/GTF file) for reference background images, avoiding the need to manually enter the coordinates for already geo-referenced images (thus making things more convenient).

I think we have that on the list. I need to do some rationalizing!!

how about importing an image directly from a pdf so we dont have to xfer it to an image file? Or did i miss something in the manual.

Take it a step further and enable us to add the pdf directly from the web, say airnav.com.

Also having the ability to import images into approach mode to 'line up' so we dont have to flip back and forth between different apps to see the plate.

what do you think?

Good ideas! No you can't add a pdf at the moment. You would need to convert it to an image. I don't think approach plates are to scale so it might be a bit difficult. Maybe Jim Vile or one of the other approach gurus will see this and answer.

Looking at parking spots on downloaded airports I find that people just leave out the parking spot where they place static airplanes.

How about a way to have a parking spot that can be disabled when a static airplane is placed on it?

I am not sure how we could do that Bob...............

Add a checkbox to the parking dialog that just makes it a display but not show up in the parking list. Ie, ignore/skip it during the compile.

Another thing that would be nice would be to be able to create a taxi/parking diagram similar to a FAA taxi/parking diagram so you could look at a diagram of the field when you are creating a new flight.

I will look at the first. The second is on the development list.

Apron cutting

I'm not sure how useful this would be for others but for what I do, drawing aprons to match taxiways, it's been extremely useful. I explain here. It would be cool if it were automated, so I could place an apron over another and "cut" with one, which would detect which vertices of the shaped apron are over the other apron then create and match vertices to sync with the apron shape you're cutting with.

That is on the list for voting I think - S025. I more or less worked out how to do this a year or so ago but it got shelved at the time.

Ah that's what that was. I gave it a low vote cause it sounded interesting but wasn't sure what it was.
