• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Suggestions for Future Versions 2010

I would like to see a function that adds trees along a vertex line. Maybe even with a random function (e.g. I pick three kinds of trees and they will be placed randomly along the line).
Would be great for alleys or small patches of wood on an airfield. Planting all those trees singly with the mouse is a little time consuming :-)

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark

This is something that we already have on the future list :)

I couldn't see it on the list but it would be nice to be able to export from ADEX to ADE9 and vica versa.

I've been using Don Grovestine's StripXML but I'd prefer to do it from one program.

You can load any ADE9 project into ADEX and any ADEX project into ADE9 provided that it does not use any FSX features (mostly fences and jetways). ADE will generate the XML and Bgl to match the version you compile to.

You also can't have any vehicle paths or parking.;)

I think what he is suggesting is that when you try to load an ADEX file into ADE9, that ADE pops up a box asking if the user wants ADE to strip out these components automatically. A very nice idea. :)

The one thing to avoid at that point, however, would be to allow the Save action to blindly overwrite the ADEX file, thus destroying it...

Good point Tom :) The plan is that an ADE project will be loadable into either FS9 or FSX and only the relevant elements will be shown and compiled. We are not there yet!

Two suggestions perhaps?

Jon,

When working with ADE, especially on approach mode, I sometimes need to make comparisons from my ARP to a other.
So, it would be convenient if ADE accept to open (at least) two sessions in the same time.

Another thing : would it be possible to make appear the exact name of the file in progress in the header of the ADE window?

Hi Philippe and thanks for the suggestions. Both are on the development list. :)

1. Ability to have more than one airport bgl open at the same time
2. Ability to copy/paste gates of same airport from one afcad to the other.

Multiple Airports open at the same time is on the list :)

I have a suggestion about the background pictures. It would be nice to seamlessly resize the background picture to line it up with an existing runway.
It's good already that we can just drag the picture to the desired position on the screen and resize it over the meters enty but that still needs some exprerimenting before you have it in the right size.
Resizing it by dragging at the lower right corner for instance would be a nice option.

Anyway, thanks for the great programm.

Are you using the Position Image Dialog (Right Click > Position Image when the background image is selected) to size the image accurately?

seconded :D

Two suggestions (for ADE9):

1.

When a parking node is selected, the graphics currently show the node as a circle with a thin line down its central axis (one half of which forms an arrow shape). However, when the parking node is not selected, this thin line disappears, and the only graphic is the arrow shape.

It would be great if the thin line remained visible at all times - including whilst one has other items selected (such as taxiway nodes) - so that it is easy to align the adjoining taxi-link to the parking node (by aligning the taxi-link with the thin line of the parking node).

2.

I don't know whether it is possible to change the colour of guide lines, especially while they are the currently selected item? I find it hard to see the ends of the guide line whilst moving it around the screen, as it doesn't stand out well from the background colour. Also, it is drawn behind taxi nodes, meaning that one cannot accurately place the end of the guide line on the exact position of the node.

Oh, and 3 :p

There are a number of situations where one is dragging an object across the screen with the mouse button pressed, and it is necessary to zoom out (and then back in). When I do this, ADE tends to zoom around the point where the mouse was when it was first pressed, rather than zooming around the point where it is now. This means that as you zoom back in to accurately place the dragged object, the screen view loses the point of "action". Naturally, it would be better if the zoom used the current mouse position as its focal point.

Maybe that is a bug? Either way, it would be a welcome improvement.

Many thanks! And also, thanks for such a great program!

Dan
