• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I don't know if anybody else has had this idea---

It would be cool to 'mass edit' parking. So instead of having to set airlines one-by-one for every gate, if you could have a selection box and have all the gates that you highlight changed all at the same time...
;)

You can do that now. Select the parking spots that you want to change by clicking them one after another with the shift key pressed. Hit Enter. Change the parking codes and Save. All the parking spots should now have the same airline codes.

More suggestions

Hi Jon!

Thank you very much. After the first hours of working with ADE (v.1.37.05) I must say that it really is a strong tool!

Here are my initial suggestions:
- design of aprons (out of the 'Edit Object'-flag): different shapes similar to 'Add Helper Shape' according to numerical data (for ex. 80 x 140 m, with option to rotate and drag)
- individual surface/colouring for overruns/blast pads
As far as I know there are many airports which have a different surface/colouring for the overrun as for the RWY itself
- colouring options with colour codes (RGB). I think it is quite difficult to remember the position of sliders whereas it is much easier to remember 143,143,143 for example. If such a code can' t be identified by FSX, is there a way to leave us with the RGB codes and get them transformed in the background to a different code which is accepted by FSX?
- lines
option to add lines (yellow/white) - solid and dashed, similar to 'Apron Edge Lighting'

That' s it for now. I am sure that other user have suggested the same or similar features. To be frank - I started reading the posts here but there are so many already.

Thank you very much again!

Based on the latest beta, a couple of major time-savers for approach data writers:

-An option of inputting distances in Meters/Feet/Nautical Miles for approach leg distance/Rho fields.

-Add decimal seconds format (DD MM SS.SSS); this is the format on the two main US aviation websites where they have waypoint databases, as well as the FAA's internal system when they document new/updated approaches.

Thanks,
Owen

What approach charts show distance/Rho in meters or feet? Published approach charts are normally expressed Distance and rho as NM's

You can place any format of Lat/Lon into ADE and it will accept it. If you open Airnav for example a Waypoint will be list as

Location: 34-20-00.250N 083-41-19.080W

Just place that into the Lat/Lon field of ADE and it will place the Waypooint in the correct place on the Grid.

The rho/distance is expected in feet according to the approach code in 1.39.22. If I put "5.6N", it prevents me from doing anything. If I put "5.6", it turns into "5.6F" in the xml output.

ah, okay, I was under the mistaken assumption that I had to input using the same format as they were displayed :o

For Distance you do not enter the letter N. ADE will already allow you to work in meters/feet/ or Nm depending on your settings. Next to the label Distance and Rho in the leg property grid is Nm, Feet or Meters. You set this from the main menu bar - Settings > Options > Units > Distance. However, as Jim says, I have never seen is specified in anything other than Nm. Looks like you may have your distance units set in feet.

This thread has gotten very large and with the imminent release of 1.40 I thought it sensible to have a tidy up. Therefore I am closing this thread and will start a new One for future suggestions for version 1.45 and beyond :D
