• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I'm working on a replica of the Falken from Ace Combat series.
It's a bit complex since it has so many movable parts... You'll know what I mean when you see the pics..:D

It has a laser system and all!

I LOVE IT! :D Wasn't this one in AC5? I was addicted to that game and had played it through at least 3 times! (PS2) I CAN'T wait for this!

Ps- that SX-1A is a thing of beauty also! It's quite challenging to fly (especially land) but very fun! ;)

Great work!

Muscat International (Oman)

I am dowing Muscat International for FSX,the middel east need more development, so this is my part.

I did a new coastline around Muscat,ad road network, landclass and fotoreal for the airport. The model design is gowing good, there is just one problem the fotos i have is just from the main terminal and two or three hangers,so if someone got fotos of the airport please let me know.I dont want to use libary objects.

Thanks Frits

Yep, the Falken was also in AC2 (Prototype) ACZ and ACX.
I'm glad you like the SX-1A! It's a bit hard, but you get used to it's temperamental flight! :D

I'm new to scenery design, so have possibly chosen an unrealistically large project to start. I'm working on improving the west of Scotland for FSX. I've done a couple of the wind farms, fixing some of the surrounding areas there too. I've added scenery to the River Clyde banks and Glasgow, though am awaiting permission to use some of the items I've sourced.

So far looking good though, and will hopefully have something to show off soon.

belfast city

hi lads
do any of you know were i can get a scenery addon of belfast city airport (egac) up to date,as i know that sim2000 as an addon of belfast airport(egaa).any hlp would b greatful lads:o

Ive done a handful of aircraft repaints in the past, but this is my first excursion into really futzing with FS's innards in any meaningful way.

Doing an overhaul of my local airport, KHWO. FSX's stock dimensions, locations, etc, are all wrong; partially due to the age of the source data they likely used, partially due to just not taking long on this field.

First, stock FSX:

stockfsxscreen.jpg

And then, the modified work-in-progress view:

currentprogress.jpg

Changes so far include:

A complete overhaul of all four runways, including dimensions, positioning, displaced thresholds, position and type of PAPI lighting, and Ive begun to fiddle with the textures. This is pretty much done.

All taxiways resized (Most are between 35 and 40ft wide in real life, FSX had them all at 70ft ), repositioned, and all taxiway signs updated to match reality. The taxiways are mostly done, signage is not. Also have to update the taxiway assignments, so FS ATC doesnt get hopelessly lost.

Adjusted the southeastern portion of the closed 300ft wide diagonal runway for size and position, and added closed runway markings, and the practice helipad. (Used for autorotation practice.) Still fiddling with this.

Added the BCC/Delta Connection Academy ramp on the NE side of the field, including some of the buildings, and I'm currently using a placeholder static MD-83 to represent the 727-100 that's parked on the west end of the ramp. (Was trucked in for the maintenance school.)

Resized and repositioned the Broward mosquito control ramp on the extreme west side of the field.

Added the non-functional T-hangars to the SE corner. I was considering making them parking, but since most of them are closed/condemned IRL, I decided against it. Also modified/added the Van Wagner hangars to the northeast of the T-hangars.

Adjusted the TBM/Socata ramp at the central south portion of the field, and resized/repositioned the main southern ramp much closer to 9R/27L, as it is in real life. This portion is still very much a work in progress.

Disconnected the Customs and Border Patrol building from the rest of the airport. There is an access road to the end of 27R in reality, but it leads to the CBP parking lot, not aircraft parking spaces as shown in FSX. It's shaped all wrong, as well, and is on the list of things left to do.

Left to do:

Finish the southern main ramp area, including replacing all the parking. Theres a whole mess of tie downs on that ramp, and I hope to provide a more realistic number of parking spaces in FSX, rather than the 9 that appear stock.

Overhaul the northeast diagonal ramp, including buildings and another whole slew of parking. In reality, theres a pair of very busy flight schools on this ramp, along with a rather large maintenance facility. Also need to add another three rows of hangars that are present in reality, north of the existing rows in the sim.

Also need to fiddle with the control tower placement and the surrounding access roads. FSX got close, but its not quite right.

Noob Comments:

I'm not currently planning on any custom modeling or texturing, as it lies far outside of my skillset. Possibly in the future. The BCC building is particularly interesting, and deserves to be modeled.

Those sorts of things will have to wait... FOR VERSION 2. :rotfl:

Hmm some interesting projects being developed...

I'm working on...

1. City of Durban (includes King Shaka Intl Airport + Old Durban Intl Airport + nearly every known Building in Durban! - Currently Paused, looking for Project Partners..
2. Johannesburg / O.R Tambo Intl

Projected Changes for "OR Tambo X"

1. Going to build interiors into Nodes 1, 2 and 3 (see image in Showroom)
2. Neighbourhood around Johannesburg Intl will be included as a Free Update
3. Modelled entirely from Photographs, Domestic Terminal with Detailed Interior
4. Will feature Landmarks near airport like the Isando industrial complex, Kempton Park (thanks to Streetview) and many others

Projects on the Planning board:

FALA - Lanseria Intl Airport + Landmarks like the Dome, Randburg etc ..
FAGM - Midrand Grand Central + Midrand City with elevated "new road caltex station"

I'm working on...

Something along the lines of AccuSim for jet engines.

So far I've got:
- Engine damage by EGT abuse
- Hot starts and subsequent engine damage
- Nonlinear engine damage when EGT is exceeded in smaller "bursts" instead of five minutes straight
- Angle of attack compressor stalls. Useful for jet fighters.

Things to do:
- Compressor stall by abuse of reverse thrust
- Compressor stall caused by excessive icing
- Compressor stall by engine damage
- An UI
- Documentation

Note: This won't be a physics simulation, just a "connect Simvars to fuel cutoff/engine failure".
I'm not trying to do anything via SimConnect and make flying planes hard, I just want to punish uncautious pilots. That's why there won't be any random component in this add-on and subsequently no "good/bad engine". Every failed engine/compressor stall is tracable all the way back to an operating error.

Right now, I'm working on the land-water-masking for the Aleutian islands and the Alaska peninsula for CFS2.

After that, I think I'll make a replacement ( of sorts ) for the RingPiece utility, so we can convert KML paths to BLN files. The current version of Google Earth breaks the conversion for routine for RingPiece... and the Google Earth tracing function for drawing is a lot easier on the carpel tunnel than the click-drawing we use in SBuilder.

Dick

Dick, that is interesting. Did you know that I already did this for the Dutch Harbor AddOn?
What exactly are you changing in the CFS scenery? Landclass? Coastlines?

Hi Thorsten.

Just changing the LWM masking to align the islands and the peninsula with the SRTM mesh ( using the SRTM waterbody data ).

Slow process. :( There are about 4000 polys to accoun for, and I'm not sure they wouldn't be better if I hand-drew them.

Hi all,

Still stuck on Greece..!!

Started Corfu-Ioannis Kapodistrias airport. I must say, one of the most beautiful approaches I ve seen on an island..Spending more time flying it rather than developing it :D

Hi all,

I must say that this is my first post on this forum, but it's been a while since I was recommended to go here and study what ya'll might be doing.
Now, to something more relevant to the thread topic:

I wanted to start on a scenery/airport that has been close to me in FS, but far away from me in real life. But I was already beaten to it when I saw one of your developers already beat me to it...

I can't say I've started on any of the projects below, but here's a list over what I "want" to do in the future:

CYYJ Victoria Intl Airport
EPWA Warsaw Chopin Airport

I'm NOT Polish by all means, but I've lived there for near 11 years.
I will post more info on this. I'm still researching stuff about both places.
I will also post as I progress and plan future projects,

Cheers,

TaP

For the second night in a row - a FSX conversion of Greg Pepper's Convair 580.

My next project is Kaula Lumpur International Airport

Hi,
I just have a test on photoscenery of KLIA (WMKK) in FS9. Here is a picture.
It could take a year to develop airport at this size. Hoping that there is no other big company making this airport.
