• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Time Zone issue

I am creating a flight plan. Not sure really which time zone to check. I believe East Coast is UTC-4? But the display by AI Companion is exactly 59 minutes off from what should be. It reads the BGL. I have talked with the developer of AI Companion and he is checking but at a loss. I was wondering if its something on this end because his program only reads the bgl and displays it. Any help appreciated. This is for MSFS.

Greets to all and Best Regards!!

Using local time while working with AI is always a gamble. Two sources of error - it can be an hour off due to Daylight Saving Time issues. If the flight plan and your computer are mis-matched then an hour error almost always happens. The other error is when you think you are in a certain day in local time, but it is a day earlier/later in GMT. Then you will have a 24 hour error. Therefore, always use GMT when checking your AI flight plans, both in AIFP and in the sim. That way these issues are avoided.

Hope this helps,

Thank you Tom !!! I posted this at AIG for koala the developer and Kaiii3 responded but not sure eexactly how to get this right in creating the flight plan. Its just for KINT. This is what I posted:

I am trying to absorb this..lol. If I create the plan for say departure at 630am and I want to see it in AIC at 630am, not 730am. I should tick what? Standard? otherwise my departure will leave at 730am. Sorry don't mean to be dense.. Thanks...wasn't there a minute difference koala? I am hoping that it will re-compile for Standard time.

Update. I moved sim to December and the time did change to 629am..still off one minute...but is there a way for the time to be consistent year round or is that impossible. there's not a winter time setting year round lol?

I don't know of a way to make them consistent year round, since the local clock changes with DST and GMT (which is what the AI use) does not. You would need to have two separate flight plans, and manually swap them at DST changes.

Thanks Tom..so there is no way to re-compile the flight plan to change it to winter time now. I think I have tried and it still keeps the same time? I think DST 2023 will be the last change of DST forever..at least for now.. :)

Greets,
BobM.
