• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v5 VHHH Will not save

When attempting to save changes to WFSS VHHH I get an error. Talked to WFSS support and they had me assign a surface to the new runway 07L which in fact had no surface assigned. I did that but got the same error. Please see attached screen shots.
Thanks,
Walter

Is there a runway with a surface 122? That is the error. Saving a project serializes it and there is a surface of 122 which the serializer does not recognize What version of ADE is this and what version of the sim are you working with?

Then change all the runway surfaces to asphalt and compile - see if that at least clears the error messages

OK. Changed all rwy to asphalt (the original 2 rwy's already were asphalt on layer 77) and they are all layer 77 now. I get the same error with layer 122.
Thank You for tour patience. I will send this same info to dev.

There is still a runway somewhere. Is this an ADE project file or a bgl file that you are loading into ADE?

Go to Lists > Runways and check that there are no runways with a surface of 122. Then go to Lists > Aprons and check surfaces again and finally Lists > Taxi Links and check surfaces again. If you find any with 122 then please edit them and change the surface to asphalt

It's a BGL file, the one that came with the scenery. Will check via Lists as suggested above and advise.

Checking via Lists shows no column for drawing layer. The only way I can check those drawing layers is to highlight each object; which I pretty much did; could not find any 122 DL's. There was one concrete apron that had a 121 DL; I changed it to ASPHALT. Still gets error.

There are several "aprons" that do not show in Lists and I can not highlight them to check properties. They are circled red in screen shot.

Found an XML in the ADE "tempwork" folder from the first time I tried to save my changes. There are many "surface 122" entries; is that the same as a drawing layer???

I take it that a DL of 122 does not exist within ADE???

We are not talking about drawing layers, only surface names. Drawing layers are irrelevant to this discussion.

Tried running fault finder. Came up with runway links that did not have runway ID (07C) filled in. Then changed surface from blank to ASPHALT. Still wud not save.

Please stop with Drawing Layers. They have nothing to do with this. They are not compiled and are there only for ADE display. We are talking about surface type which is a range of surfaces for runways, aprons and taxi paths (links) These are described in ADE with names such as asphalt, concrete, grass and so on. These names are stored as a number 122 has no corresponding surface name and is not recognized by the code that saves the project data. Trying to give drawing layers a surface name is futile. We are going in circles here.

I think you need to zip up and provide us with the bgl file that you are trying to save and compile otherwise we are wandering in the dark here. I have lost the plot
