• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Loowit Sceneries update - FS Resample / QGIS issues, etc.

So, I'm back after a hiatus, mostly brought forth by PC woes but also by research. I have a much better laptop now, and there's been some progress made to the project regarding Mount St. Helens and its pre-1980 appearance. Last week, in what I thought was never going to ever happen, the USGS...

Loowit Sceneries - The Official Mount St. Helens Experience.

As part of the recreation of Mount St. Helens in its pre-1980 environment, I have decided to rename the project a bit. It is now known as Loowit Sceneries, and is the official name for the entire Mount St. Helens set of pre-1980 packages that are now in final development. Over the last few...

Coming soon: FSX Time Capsule - - Mount St. Helens Pre-1980 Experience - Part Three: The Morning of May 18, 1980. A peaceful serenity

It is Sunday, May 18, 1980. The time, is 8:27 a.m. For fifty seven days, Mount St. Helens has been quaking, shaking, and belching. Her once pristine, snowy white Fujiyama-esque flanks are stained in hues of bluish grays and browns. Her north flank, once pristine and snow-capped, is a battered...

Coming soon: FSX Time Capsule - - Mount St. Helens Pre-1980 Experience - Part Two: The Opening Act

Last night was a significant achievement and the successful completion of a major personal milestone, and in many ways the culmination of a years-long dream to be able to successfully replicate this look in the sim. As I've been working on this project, I've scoured gigabytes of USGS data and...

QGIS export issues. I need to export from 32 bit to 16. How?

I am having QGIS export issues. It seems as though every trick in the book to either convert or export the newly-minted pre-1980 terrain as a Complex Integer 16 bit file (the type needed for 30 meter mesh) is not working. Efforts to do so either corrupt the data or the layer does not show up in...

    FSX SBuilderX, sloping ground polygons.

I'm stuck... I almost have all of my roads completed, 3D object modeling is coming to a wrap here in the next couple weeks and now I'm ready to tackle the biggest hurdle of them all - reestablishing the pre-1980 elevation data. To that end, I've downloaded five 15-minute USGS quadrangle...

SBuilderX compile issues with multiple objects, part 2 or something...

Hi all, Working on my Mount St. Helens Pre-1980 package has been frustrating to say the least. Over the last two days I have been in great conversation with none other than Mount St. Helens Lodge owner Harry Truman's granddaughter, who has been providing me with loads of details about his...

SBuilderX questions: Editing multiple items (i.e. multiple lines to be the of the same type, inability to copy/paste, etc)..)

Hi all, I am running SBuilderX 3.15 and I am working on a rather large scenery project involving 400 square miles around pre-1980 Mount St. Helens' landscape. In the project, I'm working on "reviving" over 600 miles of pre-1980 Weyerhaeuser logging roads that snaked over the landscape. To do...

Compiler issues with SBuilderX - Too many objects?

Slight issue has cropped up. I decided to branch out west a bit in the Pre-1980 Mount St. Helens Experience and flesh out a major logging camp/log storage yard that was on the lower North Fork of the Toutle River. Camp Baker, located at the foot of Hoffstadt Bluffs, was a massive, sprawling...

Creating rivers in SBuilderX without LWM polys - question Mount St. Helens Pre-1980

I am wracking my brain here... I have been working on creating the experience of what Mount St. Helens looked like prior to May 18, 1980 but I have been running into a difficulty I can't figure out. In the process of reshaping roads and streams (and the pre-1980 Spirit Lake area), I have been...

Coming soon: FSX Time Capsule - - Mount St. Helens Pre-1980 Experience.

This has been a labor of love and a lifelong dream of mine as long as I've been a flight simmer. Now, that dream is becoming a reality, and I'm very soon going to share that dream with the Flight Sim community! For the last month and a half, I have been hard at work creating one of my most...

Mount St. Helens pre-1980 terrain - issues with display after compiling

So, this is a carryover from this thread here: https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/creating-inf-file-for-terrain-bgl.444921/ I've had success creating the terrain for the volcano's pre-1980 eruption profile. However, when it loads in the sim, there is a considerable gap between the...

Creating INF file for terrain BGL.

Hey folks, I have been wracking my brain on a project I have been working on for the Mount St. Helens area and I would like some assistance. One of my longtime goals has been to produce a scenery package that would replicate the Mount St. Helens experience from a pre-1980 perspective. Just...

    Help with ADE, terrain, etc.

Years ago on Hovercontrol, I designed a scenery package for helicopter simulation enthusiasts, that recreated the Mount St. Helens visitor centers in Washington State as individual airports with landable helipads. Each contained its own scenery kit (vehicles, shrubbery, etc) but it had been...

    SBuilderX exclusion help needed.

Hi, I am back doing scenery design after a long hiatus (more than 15 years) and I am running into an issue for a freeware addon to Orbx/FTW Pacific Northwest. I run Orbx/FTW Pacific Northwest as my default scenery. The scenery is pretty great except it is missing some major landmarks in my...
