• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Enormous .DDS after Build Package the second time!

Hi Guys!
I've a big problem with my Scenery Package! The .DDS file are very very big :oops:! I've made some test but I can't undestand...
I explayn you...
- I've import in ModelLib folder my Object with 3 texture, one at 8192x8192 and the others 2 at 4096.
-Clean All
-Build All
- This is the result

The file are really big!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
The .PNG imported in modelLib don't have alpha channel, but if I open the biggest file 8K DDS with photoshop the alpha channel is appeared! Try to delete it and save with Nvidia plug-in but it is 89mb... too much!

Someone know why this happens ??

Hello... It would be difficult to answer without knowing what the texture looks like.
 
The texture is this but i've this problem with all texture! The images in the post above are only a test, if I compile in my scenery happens the same thing...
What do you need to have more info?

Appears that the black areas are being translated as transparent.

I suggest that you lighten the solid "pure" black within the textures. Just as you shouldn't have solid or "pure" white also.

Concerning the size, appears it is correct, considering the dimension of the texture. Is there a specific reason why you need textures that size or dimension?
 
This is a merge of some texture! I've used TexTool on Blender to bake all texture! I'd like use 8k to increase resolution of small object! Now I try to bake with blender and use a pure black as background!

I’ve try texture with black pure as background! But nothing change... I’ve fix the problem deleting any folder create after build package manually! And Build package again, in this case the 8K DDS texture is 46mb...yes too much but better than 262mb of DDS
